1 So the people of Kiriath-jearim came for the ark of the Lord and took it to Abinadab’s house on the hill.(C1) They consecrated his son Eleazar to take care of it.

1 The men of Kiryat-Ye`arim came, and fetched up the ark of the LORD, and brought it into the house of Avinadav in the hill, and sanctified El`azar his son to keep the ark of the LORD.

1 And the men of Kirjathjearim came, and fetched up the ark of the Lord, and brought it into the house of Abinadab in the hill, and sanctified Eleazar his son to keep the ark of the Lord.

Revival and Victory at Mizpah

1 The men of Kiriath Jearim came and brought up the ark of Yahweh, and they brought it to the house of Abinadab in Gibeah. They consecrated Eleazer his son to guard the ark of Yahweh.

1 And the men of Kiriath-jearim came and took up the ark of the Lord and brought it to the house of (a)Abinadab on the hill. And they consecrated his son Eleazar to have charge of the ark of the Lord.

1 The men of Kiriath Jearim came and took the Ark of the Lord to Abinadab's house on a hill. There they made Abinadab's son Eleazar holy for the Lord so he could guard the Ark of the Lord.

1 Then the people of Kiriath Jearim came and took the ark of the Lord; they brought it to the house of Abinadab located on the hill. They consecrated Eleazar his son to guard the ark of the Lord.

Rescue from the Philistines

1 So the men of Kiriath-jearim came and took up the ark of the Lord and (C1)brought it into the house of Abinadab on the hill, and they consecrated Eleazar his son to care for the ark of the Lord.

Israel Saved from the Philistines

1 And the men of Kiriath-jearim came and took the ark of the LORD and (C1)brought it into the house of Abinadab on the hill, and they (F1)consecrated his son Eleazar to watch over the ark of the LORD.

1 Then the men of Kiriath-iearim came, and tooke vp the Arke of the Lord, and brought it into the house of Abinadab in the hill: and they sanctified Eleazar his sonne, to keepe the Arke of the Lord.

1 And the men of Kiriath-jearim came and brought the ark of Yahweh up and (C1)brought it into the house of Abinadab on the hill and set apart Eleazar his son as holy in order to keep the ark of Yahweh.

1 The people of Kiriath-Jearim got the chest and took it to Abinadab's house, which was on a hill in their town. They chose his son Eleazar to take care of it,

1 So the men of Kiryat-Ye‘arim came and brought back the ark of Adonai. They took it to the home of Avinadav on the hill and appointed his son El‘azar to guard the ark of Adonai.

1 And the men of Kirjath-jearim came, and fetched up the ark of Jehovah, and brought it into the house of Abinadab on the hill, and hallowed Eleazar his son to keep the ark of Jehovah.

1 The men of Kiriath Jearim came and took the Lord's Holy Box up the hill to the house of Abinadab the priest. They performed a special ceremony to prepare Abinadab's son, Eleazar, to guard the Lord's Holy Box.

1 AND the men of Koriath-narin came, and took up the ark of the LORD, and brought it into the house of Abinadab on the hill, and Abinadab consecrated Eleazar his son, who kept the ark of the LORD.

1 (a)So the people of Kiriath Jearim got the Lord's Covenant Box and took it to the house of a man named Abinadab, who lived on a hill. They consecrated his son Eleazar to be in charge of it.

1 And the men of Kirjath-jearim came and brought up the ark of Jehovah, and brought it to the house of Abinadab, in the hill. And they sanctified his son Eleazar to keep the ark of Jehovah.

1 So the men of Kiriath Iearim came downe, & fetched vp ye Arke of ye LORDE, & brought it in to ye house of Abinadab at Gibea, & they consecrated Eleasar his sonne, yt he might kepe ye Arke.

1 And the men of Kiriath-jearim came, and fetched up the ark of Jehovah, and brought it into the house of Abinadab in [a]the hill, and sanctified Eleazar his son to keep the ark of Jehovah.

1 So the men of Kiriath-jearim came and took the ark of the Lord to the house of Abinadab in Gibeah, and they made his son Eleazar holy and put the ark in his care.

1 And so the men of Kiriathiarim came and set vp the arke of the Lorde, & brought it into the house of Aminadab in the hyll, and sanctified Eleazar his sonne, to keepe the arke of the Lorde.

1 And the men of Kiriath–jearim came, and fetched up the ark of the LORD, and brought it into the house of Abinadab in the hill, and sanctified Eleazar his son to keep the ark of the LORD.

Samuel Subdues the Philistines

1 Then the men of Kiriath-jearim came for the ark of the LORD and took it into Abinadab's house on the hill. And they consecrated his son Eleazar to guard the ark of the LORD.

1 Therfor men of Cariathiarym camen, and ledden ayen the arke of the Lord, and brouyten it in to the hows of Amynadab in Gabaa. Sotheli thei halewiden Eleazar his sone, that he schulde kepe the ark of the Lord.

1 And the men of Kirjath-Jearim come and bring up the ark of Jehovah, and bring it in unto the house of Abinadab, in the height, and Eleazar his son they have sanctified to keep the ark of Jehovah.

1 And the men of Kiriath-jearim came, and fetched up the ark of Yahweh, and brought it into the house of Abinadab in the hill, and sanctified Eleazar his son to keep the ark of Yahweh.

1 So the men of Kiriath-jearim came to get the Ark of the Lord. They took it to the hillside home of Abinadab and ordained Eleazar, his son, to be in charge of it.

1 The men of Kiriath-jearim came and took the special box of the Lord and brought it to the house of Abinadab on the hill. They set apart his son Eleazar to keep the special box of the Lord.

1 And the people of Kiriath-jearim came and took up the ark of the Lord, and brought it to the house of Abinadab on the hill. They consecrated his son, Eleazar, to have charge of the ark of the Lord.

1 Then came the men of Kiriath-jearim and fetched up the ark of Yahweh, and brought it into the house of Abinadab, in the hill, - and, Eleazar his son, hallowed they, to guard the ark of Yahweh.

1 And the men of Cariathiarim came, and fetched up the ark of the Lord, and carried it into the house of Abinadab, in Gabaa: and they sanctified Eleazar, his son, to keep the ark of the Lord.

1 And the men of Kir'iath-je'arim came and took up the ark of the LORD, and brought it to the house of Abin'adab on the hill; and they consecrated his son, Elea'zar, to have charge of the ark of the LORD.

1 And the men of Kirjath-Jearim come and bring up the Ark of YHWH, and bring it into the house of Abinadab, in the height, and they have sanctified his son Eleazar to keep the Ark of YHWH.

1 And they did. The men of Kiriath Jearim came and got the Chest of God and delivered it to the house of Abinadab on the hill. They ordained his son, Eleazar, to take responsibility for the Chest of God.

Deliverance from the Philistines

1 And the men of Kiriath-jearim came and took the ark of the LORD and (C1)brought it into the house of Abinadab on the hill, and consecrated Eleazar his son to keep the ark of the LORD.

Victory at Mizpah

2 Time went by until twenty years had passed since the ark had been taken to Kiriath-jearim. Then the whole house of Israel longed for the Lord. 2 It happened, from the day that the ark abode in Kiryat-Ye`arim, that the time was long; for it was twenty years: and all the house of Yisra'el lamented after the LORD.

2 And it came to pass, while the ark abode in Kirjathjearim, that the time was long; for it was twenty years: and all the house of Israel lamented after the Lord. 2 From[a] the day the ark stayed in Kiriath Jearim, days multiplied and became twenty years[b] while all the house of Israel mourned after Yahweh. 2 From the day that the ark was lodged at Kiriath-jearim, a long time passed, some twenty years, and all the house of Israel lamented after the Lord.

The Lord Saves the Israelites

2 The Ark stayed at Kiriath Jearim a long time—twenty years in all. And the people of Israel began to follow the Lord again.

Further Conflict with the Philistines

2 It was quite a long time—some twenty years in all—that the ark stayed at Kiriath Jearim. All the people of Israel longed for the Lord. 2 And from that day the ark remained in Kiriath-jearim for a very long time, for it was twenty years until the reign of King David; and all the house of Israel lamented (wailed) and grieved after the LORD. (VR1)

2 From the day that the ark remained at Kiriath-jearim, the (F1)time was long, for it was twenty years; and all the house of Israel (F2)mourned after the LORD.

2 (For while the Arke abode in Kiriath-iearim, the time was long, for it was twentie yeeres) and al the house of Israel lamented after ye Lord.2 Now it happened from the day when the ark remained at Kiriath-jearim, that the time was long; it was twenty years. And all the house of Israel lamented after Yahweh. 2 and it stayed there for twenty years.

During this time everyone in Israel was very sad and begged the Lord for help.[a] 2 From the day that the ark arrived in Kiryat-Ye‘arim a long time elapsed, twenty years; and all the people of Isra'el yearned for Adonai.

2 And it came to pass, from the day that the ark abode in Kirjath-jearim, that the time was long; for it was twenty years. And all the house of Israel lamented after Jehovah. 2 The Box stayed there at Kiriath Jearim for a long time.

The Lord Saves the Israelites

Twenty years passed while the Holy Box was in Kiriath Jearim, and the Israelites began to follow the Lord again.2 And it came to pass, from the day that the ark abode in Koriath-narin, that the time was long; for it was about twenty years; and all the house of Israel yearned after the LORD.

Samuel Rules Israel

2 The Covenant Box of the Lord stayed in Kiriath Jearim a long time, some twenty years. During this time all the Israelites cried to the Lord for help.2 And it happened from the day the ark began to dwell in Kirjath-jearim, the days became many; yea, they were twenty years. And all the house of Israel lamented after Jehovah.2 And fro yt daye that the Arke of ye LORDE abode at KiriathIearim, ye tyme extended forth so longe tyll it came to twentye yeares: and all the house of Israel wepte after the LORDE. 2 And it came to pass, from the day that the ark abode in Kiriath-jearim, that the time was long; for it was twenty years: and all the house of Israel [b]lamented after Jehovah.2 And the ark was in Kiriath-jearim for a long time, as much as twenty years: and all Israel was searching after the Lord with weeping.2 And while the arke abode in Kiriathiarim, the tyme was long, for it was twentie yeres: & all the house of Israel lamented after the Lorde.2 And it came to pass, from the day that the ark abode in Kiriath-jearim, that the time was long; for it was twenty years; and all the house of Israel yearned after the LORD. 2 And it came to passe while the Arke abode in Kiriath-iearim, that the time was long: for it was twentie yeeres: and all the house of Israel lamented after the Lord. 2 And it came to pass from the time that the ark was in Cariathiarim, the days were multiplied, and the time was twenty years; and all the house of Israel looked after the Lord.2 And it came to pass, from the day that the ark abode in Kiriath–jearim, that the time was long; for it was twenty years: and all the house of Israel lamented after the LORD. 2 And from that day a long time passed, twenty years in all, as the ark remained at Kiriath-jearim. And all the house of Israel mourned and sought after the LORD.2 And it was doon, fro which dai `the arke of the Lord dwellide in Caryathiarym, daies weren multiplied; for the twentithe yeer was now, after that Samuel bigan to teche the puple; and al Israel restide aftir the Lord.2 And it cometh to pass, from the day of the dwelling of the ark in Kirjath-Jearim, that the days are multiplied -- yea, they are twenty years -- and wail do all the house of Israel after Jehovah.2 And it came to pass, from the day that the ark abode in Kiriath-jearim, that the time was long; for it was twenty years: and all the house of Israel lamented after Yahweh.2 And it came to pass, while the ark abode in Kirjath-jearim, that the time was long; for it was twenty years: and all the house of Israel lamented after the LORD.2 It happened, from the day that the ark abode in Kiriath-jearim, that the time was long; for it was twenty years: and all the house of Israel lamented after Yahweh. 2 So it was that the ark remained in Kirjath Jearim a long time; it was there twenty years. And all the house of Israel lamented after the LORD. 2 The Ark remained in Kiriath-jearim for a long time—twenty years in all. During that time all Israel mourned because it seemed the Lord had abandoned them.

Samuel Judges for Israel

2 The special box stayed in Kiriath-jearim a long time, for it was twenty years. And all the family of Israel cried with sorrow for the Lord.

2 From the day that the ark was lodged at Kiriath-jearim, a long time passed, some twenty years, and all the house of Israel lamented[a] after the Lord.2 And so it was, that, from the day the ark came to dwell in Kiriath-jearim, the days multiplied, and became twenty years, - and all the house of Israel went mourning after Yahweh.2 And it came to pass, that from the day the ark of the Lord abode in Cariathiarim, days were multiplied (for it was now the twentieth year) and all the house of Israel rested, following the Lord.2 From the day that the ark was lodged at Kir'iath-je'arim, a long time passed, some twenty years, and all the house of Israel lamented after the LORD.2 And it comes to pass, from the day of the dwelling of the Ark in Kirjath-Jearim, that the days are multiplied—indeed, they are twenty years—and all the house of Israel wails after YHWH.

2 From the time that the Chest came to rest in Kiriath Jearim, a long time passed—twenty years it was—and throughout Israel there was a widespread, fearful movement toward God.2 From the day that the ark remained at Kiriath-jearim, the time was long, for it was twenty years; and all the house of Israel lamented after the LORD.

3 Samuel told them, “If you(C1) are returning to the Lord(C2) with all your heart,(C3) get rid of the foreign gods(C4) and the Ashtoreths that are among you, dedicate yourselves to(F1) the Lord, and worship only him.(C5) Then he will rescue you from the Philistines.”

3 Shemu'el spoke to all the house of Yisra'el, saying, If you do return to the LORD with all your heart, then put away the foreign gods and the `Ashtarot from among you, and direct your hearts to the LORD, and serve him only; and he will deliver you out of the hand of the Pelishtim.

3 And Samuel spake unto all the house of Israel, saying, If ye do return unto the Lord with all your hearts, then put away the strange gods and Ashtaroth from among you, and prepare your hearts unto the Lord, and serve him only: and he will deliver you out of the hand of the Philistines. 3 And Samuel spoke to all the house of Israel, saying, "If with all your heart you are turning to Yahweh, remove the foreign gods and Ashtoreths[c] from your midst. Commit your hearts to Yahweh and serve him alone. Then he will deliver you from the hand of the Philistines."

Samuel Judges Israel

3 And Samuel said to all the house of Israel, (b)"If you are returning to the Lord with all your heart, then (c)put away the foreign gods and the (d)Ashtaroth from among you and (e)direct your heart to the Lord (f)and serve him only, and he will deliver you out of the hand of the Philistines." 3 Samuel spoke to the whole group of Israel, saying, "If you're turning back to the Lord with all your hearts, you must remove your foreign gods and your idols of Ashtoreth. You must give yourselves fully to the Lord and serve only him. Then he will save you from the Philistines." 3 Samuel said to all the people of Israel, "If you are really turning to the Lord with all your hearts, remove from among you the foreign gods and the images of Ashtoreth. Give your hearts to the Lord and serve only him. Then he will deliver you from the hand of the Philistines."

3 Then Samuel said to all the house of Israel, "(C1)If you are returning to the LORD with all your heart, (C2)remove the foreign gods and the (C3)Ashtaroth (pagan goddesses) from among you and (C4)direct your hearts to the LORD and (C5)serve Him only; and He will rescue you from the hand of the Philistines."

3 Then Samuel spoke to all the house of Israel, saying, "(C1)If you are returning to the LORD with all your heart, then (C2)remove the foreign gods and the (C3)Ashtaroth from among you, and (C4)direct your hearts to the LORD and (C5)serve Him alone; and He will save you from the hand of the Philistines."

3 Then Samuel spake vnto all the house of Israel, saying, If ye be come againe vnto the Lord with all your heart, put away the strange gods from among you, and Ashtaroth, & direct your hearts vnto the Lord, & serue him only, and he shall deliuer you out of the hand of ye Philistims.

Samuel Judges Israel

3 Then Samuel spoke to all the house of Israel, saying, "(C1)If you are to return to Yahweh with all your heart, then (C2)remove the foreign gods and the (C3)Ashtaroth from among you and (C4)set your hearts toward Yahweh and (C5)serve Him alone; and He will deliver you from the hand of the Philistines."

The People of Israel Turn Back to the Lord

3 One day, Samuel told all the people of Israel, "If you really want to turn back to the Lord, then prove it. Get rid of your foreign idols, including the ones of the goddess Astarte. Turn to the Lord with all your heart and worship only him. Then he will rescue you from the Philistines."

3 Sh'mu'el addressed all the people of Isra'el; he said: "If you are returning to Adonai with all your heart, then be done with the foreign gods and ‘ashtarot that you have with you, and direct your hearts to Adonai. If you will serve only him, he will rescue you from the power of the P'lishtim."

3 And Samuel spoke to all the house of Israel, saying, If ye return to Jehovah with all your heart, put away the strange gods and the Ashtoreths from among you, and apply your hearts unto Jehovah, and serve him only; and he will deliver you out of the hand of the Philistines. 3 Samuel told the Israelites, "If you are really coming back to the Lord with all your heart, you must throw away your foreign gods and your idols of Ashtoreth. You must give yourselves fully to the Lord and serve only him. Then he will save you from the Philistines."

3 Then Samuel said to all the house of Israel, If you return with all your heart to the LORD, then put away the strange gods and Ashtaroth from among you, and prepare your heart unto the LORD, and serve him only; and he will deliver you out of the hand of the Philistines.

3 Samuel said to the people of Israel, "If you are going to turn to the Lord with all your hearts, you must get rid of all the foreign gods and the images of the goddess Astarte. Dedicate yourselves completely to the Lord and worship only him, and he will rescue you from the power of the Philistines."

3 And Samuel said to all the house of Israel, saying, If you are returning to Jehovah with all your heart, put aside the foreign gods from among you, and the Ashtoroth. And prepare your heart to Jehovah, and serve Him only, and He will deliver you out of the hand of the Philistines.

3 But Samuel sayde vnto all the house of Israel: Yf ye turne you withall youre hert vnto the LORDE, then put awaye from you the straunge goddes and Astaroth, and directe youre hert vnto the LORDE and serue him onely, so shall he delyuer you out of the hande of the Philistynes.

3 And Samuel spake unto all the house of Israel, saying, If ye do return unto Jehovah with all your heart, then put away the foreign gods and the Ashtaroth from among you, and direct your hearts unto Jehovah, and serve him only; and he will deliver you out of the hand of the Philistines.

3 Then Samuel said to all Israel, If with all your hearts you would come back to the Lord, then put away all the strange gods and the Astartes from among you, and let your hearts be turned to the Lord, and be servants to him only: and he will make you safe from the hands of the Philistines.

3 And Samnel spake vnto al the house of Israel, saying: If ye be come agayne vnto the Lorde with all your heartes, then put away the straunge gods and Astaroth from among you, and prepare your heartes vnto the Lord, and serue him onely: For he shall ryd you out of the hand of the Philistines.

3 And Samuel spoke unto all the house of Israel, saying: 'If ye do return unto the LORD with all your heart, then put away the foreign gods and the Ashtaroth from among you, and direct your hearts unto the LORD, and serve Him only; and He will deliver you out of the hand of the Philistines.'

3 And Samuel spake vnto all the house of Israel, saying, If ye doe returne vnto the Lord with all your hearts, then put away the strange gods, and Ashtaroth from among you, and prepare your hearts vnto the Lord, and serue him onely: & he will deliuer you out of the hand of the Philistines.

3 And Samuel spoke to all the house of Israel, saying, If ye do with all your heart return to the Lord, take away the strange gods from the midst of you, and the groves, and prepare your hearts to serve the Lord, and serve him only; and he shall deliver you from the hand of the Philistines.

3 And Samuel spake unto all the house of Israel, saying, If ye do return unto the LORD with all your heart, then put away the strange gods and the Ashtaroth from among you, and prepare your hearts unto the LORD, and serve him only: and he will deliver you out of the hand of the Philistines.

3 Then Samuel said to all the house of Israel, “If you are returning to the LORD with all your hearts, then rid yourselves of the foreign gods and Ashtoreths among you, prepare your hearts for the LORD, and serve Him only. And He will deliver you from the hand of the Philistines.”

3 Forsothe Samuel spak to al the hows of Israel, and seide, If in al youre herte ye turnen ayen to the Lord, do ye awei alien goddis, Balym and Astaroth, fro the myddis of you; and make ye redi youre hertis to the Lord, and serue ye hym aloone; and he schal delyuere you fro the hond of Filisteis.

3 And Samuel speaketh unto all the house of Israel, saying, `If with all your heart ye are turning back unto Jehovah -- turn aside the gods of the stranger from your midst, and Ashtaroth; and prepare your heart unto Jehovah, and serve Him only, and He doth deliver you out of the hand of the Philistines.'

3 And Samuel spoke to all the house of Israel, saying, If you are returning to Yahweh with all your heart, then put away the foreign gods and the Ashtaroth from among you, and direct your hearts to Yahweh, and serve him only; and he will deliver you out of the hand of the Philistines.

3 And Samuel spoke to all the house of Israel, saying, If ye do return to the LORD with all your hearts, [then] put away the strange gods, and Ashtaroth, from among you, and prepare your hearts to the LORD, and serve him only: and he will deliver you from the hand of the Philistines.

3 Samuel spoke to all the house of Israel, saying, If you do return to Yahweh with all your heart, then put away the foreign gods and the Ashtaroth from among you, and direct your hearts to Yahweh, and serve him only; and he will deliver you out of the hand of the Philistines.

3 Then Samuel spoke to all the house of Israel, saying, "If you return to the Lord with all your hearts, then put away the foreign gods and the Ashtoreths [fn] from among you, and prepare your hearts for the Lord, and serve Him only; and He will deliver you from the hand of the Philistines."

Samuel Leads Israel to Victory

3 Then Samuel said to all the people of Israel, "If you want to return to the Lord with all your hearts, get rid of your foreign gods and your images of Ashtoreth. Turn your hearts to the Lord and obey him alone; then he will rescue you from the Philistines."

3 Then Samuel said to all the family of Israel, "Return to the Lord with all your heart. Put away the strange gods and the false goddess Ashtaroth from among you. Turn your hearts to the Lord and worship Him alone. Then He will save you from the Philistines."

Samuel as Judge

3 Then Samuel said to all the house of Israel, "If you are returning to the Lord with all your heart, then put away the foreign gods and the Astartes from among you. Direct your heart to the Lord, and serve him only, and he will deliver you out of the hand of the Philistines."

3 And Samuel spake unto all the house of Israel, saying, If, with all your heart, ye are returning unto Yahweh, then put away the gods of the foreigner out of your midst, and the Ashtoreths - and firmly set your heart towards Yahweh, and serve him, alone, that he may deliver you out of the hand of the Philistines.

3 And Samuel spoke to all the house of Israel, saying: If you turn to the Lord with all your heart, put away the strange gods from among you, Baalim and Astaroth: and prepare your hearts unto the Lord, and serve him only, and he will deliver you out of the hand of the Philistines.

3 Then Samuel said to all the house of Israel, "If you are returning to the LORD with all your heart, then put away the foreign gods and the Ash'taroth from among you, and direct your heart to the LORD, and serve him only, and he will deliver you out of the hand of the Philistines."

3 And Samuel speaks to all the house of Israel, saying, "If you are turning back to YHWH with all your heart—turn aside the gods of the stranger from your midst, and Ashtaroth; and prepare your heart for YHWH, and serve Him only, and He delivers you out of the hand of the Philistines."

3 Then Samuel addressed the house of Israel: "If you are truly serious about coming back to God, clean house. Get rid of the foreign gods and fertility goddesses, ground yourselves firmly in God, worship him and him alone, and he'll save you from Philistine oppression."

3 Then Samuel spoke to all the house of Israel, saying, "(C1)If you return to the LORD with all your heart, (C2)remove the foreign gods and the (C3)Ashtaroth from among you and (C4)direct your hearts to the LORD and (C5)serve Him alone; and He will deliver you from the hand of the Philistines."4 So the Israelites removed the Baals and the Ashtoreths(C1) and only worshiped the Lord.

4 Then the children of Yisra'el did put away the Ba`alim and the `Ashtarot, and served the LORD only.

4 Then the children of Israel did put away Baalim and Ashtaroth, and served the Lord only. 4 So the Israelites[d] removed the Baals[e] and the Ashtoreths, and they served Yahweh alone. 4 So the people of Israel put away the Baals and the Ashtaroth, and they served the Lord only.

4 So the Israelites put away their idols of Baal and Ashtoreth, and they served only the Lord. 4 So the Israelites removed the Baals and images of Ashtoreth. They served only the Lord.4 So the Israelites removed the Baals and the Ashtaroth and served the LORD alone.

4 Then the children of Israel did put away Baalim & Ashtaroth, & serued the Lord onely.4 So the sons of Israel removed the Baals and the Ashtaroth and served Yahweh alone.

4 The people got rid of their idols of Baal and Astarte and began worshiping only the Lord. 4 So the people of Isra'el banished the ba‘alim and the ‘ashtarot and served only Adonai.

4 And the children of Israel put away the Baals and the Ashtoreths and served Jehovah only.

4 So the Israelites threw away their statues of Baal and Ashtoreth. The Israelites served only the Lord.4 So the children of Israel put away Baal and Ashtaroth, and served the LORD only. 4 So the Israelites got rid of their idols of Baal and Astarte, and worshiped only the Lord.4 And the sons of Israel put away the Baals and the Ashtaroth, and served Jehovah only.4 Then the childre of Israel put awaye Baalim and Astaroth from them, and serued the LORDE onely. 4 Then the children of Israel did put away the Baalim and the Ashtaroth, and served Jehovah only.4 So the children of Israel gave up the worship of Baal and Astarte, and became worshippers of the Lord only.4 Then the children of Israel dyd put away Baalim and Astaroth, and serued the Lorde onely.4 Then the children of Israel did put away the Baalim and the Ashtaroth, and served the LORD only. 4 Then the children of Israel did put away Baalim, and Ashtaroth, and serued the Lord onely. 4 And the children of Israel took away Baalim and the groves of Astaroth, and served the Lord only. 4 Then the children of Israel did put away the Baalim and the Ashtaroth, and served the LORD only. 4 So the Israelites put away the Baals and Ashtoreths and served only the LORD.4 Therfor the sones of Israel diden awey Baalym and Astoroth, and serueden the Lord aloone.4 And the sons of Israel turn aside the Baalim and Ashtaroth, and serve Jehovah alone;4 Then the sons of Israel put away the Baalim and the Ashtaroth, and served Yahweh only.4 Then the children of Israel put away Baalim, and Ashtaroth, and served the LORD only.4 Then the children of Israel did put away the Baals and the Ashtaroth, and served Yahweh only. 4 So the children of Israel put away the Baals and the Ashtoreths, [fn] and served the Lord only. 4 So the Israelites got rid of their images of Baal and Ashtoreth and worshiped only the Lord. 4 So the people of Israel put away from among them the false gods of Baal and Ashtaroth and worshiped the Lord alone. 4 So Israel put away the Baals and the Astartes, and they served the Lord only.4 So the sons of Israel put away the Baals, and the Ashtoreths, - and served Yahweh, alone.4 Then the children of Israel put away Baalim and Astaroth, and served the Lord only.4 So Israel put away the Ba'als and the Ash'taroth, and they served the LORD only.4 And the sons of Israel turn aside the Ba‘alim and Ashtaroth, and serve YHWH alone;

4 They did it. They got rid of the gods and goddesses, the images of Baal and Ashtoreth, and gave their exclusive attention and service to God.4 So the sons of Israel removed the Baals and the Ashtaroth and served the LORD alone.

5 Samuel said, “Gather all Israel at Mizpah,(C1) and I will pray to the Lord on your behalf.”(C2) 5 Shemu'el said, Gather all Yisra'el to Mitzpah, and I will pray for you to the LORD.

5 And Samuel said, Gather all Israel to Mizpeh, and I will pray for you unto the Lord.

5 Then Samuel said, "Gather all Israel to Mizpah, and I will pray to Yahweh for you."

5 Then Samuel said, "Gather all Israel at (g)Mizpah, and I will pray to the Lord for you."

5 Samuel said, "All Israel must meet at Mizpah, and I will pray to the Lord for you."

5 Then Samuel said, "Gather all Israel to Mizpah, and I will pray to the Lord on your behalf."

5 Samuel said, "Gather all Israel together at (C1)Mizpah and (C2)I will pray to the LORD for you."

5 Then Samuel said, "Gather all Israel to (C1)Mizpah and (C2)I will pray to the LORD for you."5 And Samuel said, Gather all Israel to Mizpeh, and I will pray for you vnto the Lord.

5 Then Samuel said, "Gather all Israel to (C1)Mizpah, and (C2)I will pray to Yahweh for you."

5 Then Samuel said, "Tell everyone in Israel to meet together at Mizpah, and I will pray to the Lord for you."

5 Sh'mu'el said, "Gather all Isra'el to Mitzpah, and I will pray for you to Adonai."

5 And Samuel said, Gather all Israel to Mizpah, and I will pray Jehovah for you.

5 Samuel said, "All Israel must meet at Mizpah. I will pray to the Lord for you."5 And Samuel said, Gather all Israel at Mizpeh, and I will pray for you to the LORD.

5 Then Samuel called for all the Israelites to meet at Mizpah, telling them, "I will pray to the Lord for you there." 5 And Samuel said, Gather all Israel to Mizpah, and I will pray to Jehovah for you.5 Samuel saide: Gather all Israel together vnto Mispa, that I maye praye for you vnto the LORDE.

5 And Samuel said, Gather all Israel to Mizpah, and I will pray for you unto Jehovah. 5 Then Samuel said, Let all Israel come to Mizpah and I will make prayer to the Lord for you.5 And Samuel sayde: Gather all Israel to Mispah, and I wyll praye for you vnto the Lord.5 And Samuel said: 'Gather all Israel to Mizpah, and I will pray for you unto the LORD.'5 And Samuel said, Gather all Israel to Mizpeh, and I will pray for you vnto the Lord. 5 And Samuel said, Gather all Israel to Massephath, and I will pray for you to the Lord. 5 And Samuel said, Gather all Israel to Mizpah, and I will pray for you unto the LORD. 5 Then Samuel said, “Gather all Israel to Mizpah, and I will pray to the LORD on your behalf.”5 Forsothe Samuel seide, Gadere ye al Israel in to Masphat, that Y preie the Lord for you.5 and Samuel saith, `Gather all Israel to Mizpeh, and I pray for you unto Jehovah.'5 And Samuel said, Gather all Israel to Mizpah, and I will pray for you to Yahweh.5 And Samuel said, Gather all Israel to Mizpeh, and I will pray for you to the LORD.5 Samuel said, Gather all Israel to Mizpah, and I will pray for you to Yahweh. 5 And Samuel said, "Gather all Israel to Mizpah, and I will pray to the LORD for you."

5 Then Samuel told them, "Gather all of Israel to Mizpah, and I will pray to the Lord for you."

5 Then Samuel said, "Gather all Israel together at Mizpah, and I will pray to the Lord for you."

5 Then Samuel said, "Gather all Israel at Mizpah, and I will pray to the Lord for you." 5 And Samuel said, Gather all Israel unto Mizpah, - that I may pray for you, unto Yahweh.5 And Samuel said: Gather all Israel to Masphath, that I may pray to the Lord for you.5 Then Samuel said, "Gather all Israel at Mizpah, and I will pray to the LORD for you."5 and Samuel says, "Gather all Israel to Mizpeh, and I pray to YHWH for you."

5 Next Samuel said, "Get everybody together at Mizpah and I'll pray for you."

5 Then Samuel said, "Gather all Israel to (C1)Mizpah and (C2)I will pray to the LORD for you."6 When they gathered at Mizpah, they drew water and poured it out in the Lord’s presence.(C1) They fasted that day,(C2) and there they confessed, “We have sinned against the Lord.”(C3) And Samuel judged the Israelites at Mizpah.

6 They gathered together to Mitzpah, and drew water, and poured it out before the LORD, and fasted on that day, and said there, We have sinned against the LORD. Shemu'el judged the children of Yisra'el in Mitzpah.

And Samuel judged the people of Israel at Mizpah. 6 So the Israelites met together at Mizpah. They drew water from the ground and poured it out before the Lord and fasted that day. They confessed, "We have sinned against the Lord." And Samuel served as judge of Israel at Mizpah. 6 After they had assembled at Mizpah, they drew water and poured it out before the Lord. They fasted on that day, and they confessed there, "We have sinned against the Lord." So Samuel led the people of Israel at Mizpah.6 So they gathered at Mizpah, and drew water and (C1)poured it out before the LORD, and (C2)fasted on that day and said there, "(C3)We have sinned against the LORD." And Samuel judged the Israelites at Mizpah.

6 So they gathered to Mizpah, and drew water and (C1)poured it out before the LORD, and (C2)fasted on that day and said there, "(C3)We have sinned against the LORD." And Samuel judged the sons of Israel at Mizpah.

6 And they gathered together to Mizpeh, and drewe water and powred it out before the Lord, and fasted the same day, and sayd there, We haue sinned against the Lord. And Samuel iudged the children of Israel in Mizpeh.6 And they gathered to Mizpah and drew water and (C1)poured it out before Yahweh and (C2)fasted on that day and said there, "(C3)We have sinned against Yahweh." And Samuel judged the sons of Israel at Mizpah.

6 The Israelites met together at Mizpah with Samuel as their leader. They drew water from the well and poured it out as an offering to the Lord. On that same day they went without eating to show their sorrow, and they confessed they had been unfaithful to the Lord. 6 So they gathered together at Mitzpah, drew water and poured it out before Adonai, fasted that day, and said there, "We have sinned against Adonai." Sh'mu'el began serving as judge over the people of Isra'el at Mitzpah.

6 And they gathered together to Mizpah, and drew water, and poured it out before Jehovah, and fasted on that day, and said there, We have sinned against Jehovah. And Samuel judged the children of Israel in Mizpah.

6 The Israelites met together at Mizpah. They got water and poured it out before the Lord. In this way they began a time of fasting. They did not eat any food that day, and they confessed their sins. They said, "We have sinned against the Lord." So Samuel served as a judge of Israel at Mizpah.6 And they gathered together at Mizpeh, and drew water and poured it out before the LORD, and fasted on that day, and said, We have sinned against the LORD. And Samuel judged the children of Israel at Mizpeh. 6 So they all gathered at Mizpah. They drew some water and poured it out as an offering to the Lord and fasted that whole day. They said, "We have sinned against the Lord." (It was at Mizpah where Samuel settled disputes among the Israelites.)6 And they were gathered to Mizpah, and drew water, and poured out before Jehovah. And they fasted on that day, and said there, We have sinned against Jehovah. And Samuel judged the sons of Israel in Mizpah.6 And they came together vnto Mispa, and drue water, & poured it out before the LORDE, and fasted the same daye, and there they sayde: We haue synned vnto the LORDE. So Samuel iudged the children of Israel at Mispa. 6 And they gathered together to Mizpah, and drew water, and poured it out before Jehovah, and fasted on that day, and said there, We have sinned against Jehovah. And Samuel judged the children of Israel in Mizpah. 6 So they came together to Mizpah, and got water, draining it out before the Lord, and they took no food that day, and they said, We have done evil against the Lord. And Samuel was judge of the children of Israel in Mizpah.6 And they gathered together to Mispah, and drewe water, and poured it out before the Lorde, and fasted the same day, and sayd there: We haue sinned against the Lorde. On that day they fasted, and there they confessed, “We have sinned against the LORD.” And Samuel judged the Israelites at Mizpah.6 And thei camen togidere in to Masphat, and thei drowen watir, and shedden out in the `siyt of the Lord; and thei fastiden in that day, and seiden, Lord, we synneden to thee. They also went without food all day and confessed that they had sinned against the Lord. (It was at Mizpah that Samuel became Israel's judge.) 6 So they gathered at Mizpah. They got water and poured it out before the Lord as a gift, and did not eat that day. They said there, "We have sinned against the Lord." And Samuel judged the people of Israel at Mizpah. 6 So they gathered at Mizpah, and drew water and poured it out before the Lord. They fasted that day, and said, "We have sinned against the Lord." And Samuel judged the people of Israel at Mizpah.6 So they gathered themselves unto Mizpah, and drew water, and poured it out before Yahweh, and fasted on that day, and said, there, We have sinned against Yahweh.
