3 We have everything we need to live a life that pleases God. It was all given to us by God's own power, when we learned that he had invited us to share in his wonderful goodness. 3 God's power has given us everything we need for life and godliness, through our knowing the One who called us to his own glory and goodness. 3 As his divine power has given to us all things which relate to life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that has called us by glory and virtue, 3 Jesus has the power of God. And his power has given us everything we need to live a life devoted to God. We have these things because we know him. Jesus chose us by his glory and goodness,3 According as his diuine power hath giuen vnto vs all things that perteine vnto life and godlinesse, through the acknowledging of him that hath called vs vnto glory and vertue.3 Who has given us all things that pertain to the power of God, for life and worship of God, through the knowledge of him who has called us by his glory and excellence; 3 God's divine power has given us everything we need to live a truly religious life through our knowledge of the one who called us to share in his own[a] glory and goodness. 3 because his divine power has bestowed on us all things that are necessary for life and godliness, through the knowledge of the one who called us by his own glory and excellence of character, 3 As His divine power has given to us all things pertaining to life and godliness through the full knowledge of the One calling us through glory and virtue,3 For His (C1)divine power has bestowed on us absolutely everything necessary for a dynamic spiritual life and godliness, through (F1)true and personal (C2)knowledge of Him who (C3)called us by His own glory and excellence. 3 seeing that his divine power hath granted unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that called us [e]by his own glory and virtue; 3 Because by his power he has given us everything necessary for life and righteousness, through the knowledge of him who has been our guide by his glory and virtue;3 seeing that his divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and virtue; 3 His divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness through the full knowledge of the one who called us by his own glory and excellence.[xr] 3 3 As He who all (things) which of the divine power are unto life and godliness [fn] hath given (us), through the knowledge of Him who hath called us unto the glory of him and of virtue [fn] 3 as the giver to us of all things that be of the power of God, unto life and the fear of God, through the recognition of him who hath called us unto his own glory and moral excellence:3 Accordyng as his godly power hath geuen vnto vs all thynges that parteine vnto lyfe and godlynesse, through the knowledge of hym that hath called vs vnto glorie and vertue:3 seeing that his divine power hath granted unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that called us by his own glory and virtue; 3 seeing that his divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and virtue; 3 As his divine power hath given us all things that pertain to life and godliness, thro' the knowledge of him that hath called us by glory and virtue,3 seeing that His divine power has given us all things that are needful for life and godliness, through our knowledge of Him who has appealed to us by His own glorious perfections.3 Hou alle thingis of his godlich vertu, that ben to lijf and pitee, ben youun to vs, bi the knowyng of hym, that clepide vs for his owne glorie and vertu.3 seeing that his divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that called us by his own glory and virtue;3 According as his divine power hath given to us all things that [pertain] to life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue: 3 I can pray this because his divine power has bestowed on us everything necessary for life and godliness through the rich knowledge of the one who called us by his own glory and excellence. 3 as His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue, 3 By his divine power, God has given us everything we need for living a godly life. We have received all of this by coming to know him, the one who called us to himself by means of his marvelous glory and excellence. 3 He gives us everything we need for life and for holy living. As we come to know Him better, we learn that He called us to share His own shining-greatness and perfect life. 3 His divine power has given us everything needed for life and godliness, through the knowledge of him who called us by[d] his own glory and goodness. 3 As, all things, suited for life and godliness his divine power, unto us, hath given, through the personal knowledge of him that hath called us through glory and excellence, - 3 As all things of his divine power which appertain to life and godliness are given us through the knowledge of him who hath called us by his own proper glory and virtue.3 His divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of him who called us to his own glory and excellence,3 Accordinge as his godly power hath geven vnto vs all thinges that pertayne vnto lyfe and godlynes thorow the knowledge of him that hath called vs by vertue and glory3 As all things to us His divine power (the things pertaining unto life and piety) hath given, through the acknowledgement of him who did call us through glory and worthiness,3 As His divine power has given to us all things pertaining to life and piety, through the acknowledgment of Him who called us through glory and virtue,3 For so moch as his godly power hath geuen vs all thinges (that pertayne vnto life and godlynes) thorow the knowlege of him that hath called vs by his owne glorie and power,3 It is thus his divine power has given us every thing conducive to life and piety, by making us acquainted with him, who has called us by his illustrious power; 3-4 Everything that goes into a life of pleasing God has been miraculously given to us by getting to know, personally and intimately, the One who invited us to God. The best invitation we ever received! We were also given absolutely terrific promises to pass on to you—your tickets to participation in the life of God after you turned your back on a world corrupted by lust.
3 We don't lack nothin' because God has given us everything we're needin' to ride for him. With these gifts you can share in being like God. And so you will escape the ruin that comes to people in the world because of the evil things they want.4 Whereby most great and precious promises are giuen vnto vs, that by them ye should be partakers of the diuine nature, in that ye flee the corruption, which is in the worlde through lust.4 Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these you might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust. 4 In this way he has given us the very great and precious gifts he promised, so that by means of these gifts you may escape from the destructive lust that is in the world, and may come to share the divine nature. 4 through which things he has bestowed on us his precious and very great promises, so that through these you may become sharers of the divine nature after[a] escaping from the corruption that is in the world because of evil desire, 4 by which means He has given to us the very great and precious promises, so that through these you might be partakers of the divine nature, escaping from the corruption in the world by lust.4 For by these He has bestowed on us His precious and magnificent (C1)promises of inexpressible value, so that by them you may (C2)escape from the (C3)immoral freedom that is in (C4)the world because of disreputable desire, and become (C5)sharers of the divine nature. 4 whereby he hath granted unto us his precious and exceeding great promises; that through these ye may become partakers of [f]the divine nature, having escaped from the corruption that is in the world by lust. 4 And through this he has given us the hope of great rewards highly to be valued; so that by them we might have our part in God's being, and be made free from the destruction which is in the world through the desires of the flesh.4 whereby he has granted to us his precious and exceedingly great promises; that through these you may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped from the corruption that is in the world by lust. 4 Through these he has given us his precious and wonderful promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature, seeing that you have escaped the corruption that is in the world caused by evil desires.[xr] 4 4 by annunciations [fn] great and precious which he hath given to you, that by them you may be partakers of the divine nature, while you escape the corruption of the lusts which are in the world; Salutation

5 And besides this, giuing all diligence, adde to your faith, vertue; and to vertue knowledge;
5 And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge; 5 For this very reason, make every effort to supplement your faith (i)with virtue,[e] and virtue (j)with knowledge,5 Now for this very reason also, applying all diligence, in your faith (C1)supply (C2)moral (F1)excellence, and in your moral excellence, (C3)knowledge,
5 Because you have these blessings, do your best to add these things to your lives: to your faith, add goodness; and to your goodness, add knowledge; 5 Now for this very reason also, applying all diligence, in your faith (C1)supply (C2)moral (F1)excellence, and in your moral excellence, (C3)knowledge,
5 For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith virtue; and to virtue, knowledge;
5 Do your best to improve your faith. You can do this by adding goodness, understanding,
5 For this very reason, try your hardest to furnish your faith with goodness, goodness with knowledge,
5 But for this very reason also, using therewith all diligence, in your faith have also virtue, in virtue knowledge,
5 Because you have these blessings, do all you can to add to your life these things: to your faith add goodness; to your goodness add knowledge;
5 Therefore giue euen all diligence thereunto: ioyne moreouer vertue with your faith: and with vertue, knowledge:
5 And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith, virtue; and to virtue, knowledge; 5 For this very reason do your best to add goodness to your faith; to your goodness add knowledge; 5 and for this same reason, and by[b] applying all diligence, supply with your faith excellence of character, and with excellence of character, knowledge,
5 But also in this very thing, having brought in all diligence, having fully supplied in your faith virtue, and with virtue knowledge,5 For this very reason, applying your diligence to the divine promises, make every effort in exercising your faith to (F1)(C1)develop (C2)moral excellence, and in moral excellence, (C3)knowledge (insight, understanding), 5 Yea, and for this very cause adding on your part all diligence, in your faith supply virtue; and in your virtue knowledge;
5 So, for this very cause, take every care; joining virtue to faith, and knowledge to virtue,
5 Yes, and for this very cause adding on your part all diligence, in your faith supply moral excellence; and in moral excellence, knowledge;
5 For this very reason, you must make every effort to supplement your faith with moral character, your moral character with knowledge,[xr]
5 5 And, while ye apply all diligence in the matter, add to your faith moral excellence; and to moral excellence, knowledge; 5 And herevnto geue all diligence: in your fayth minister vertue, in vertue knowledge, 5 Yea, and for this very cause adding on your part all diligence, in your faith supply virtue; and in [your] virtue knowledge; 5 Yes, and for this very cause adding on your part all diligence, in your faith supply moral excellence; and in moral excellence, knowledge; 5 For this very reason giving all diligence, add to your faith courage, 5 But for this very reason--adding, on your part, all earnestness-- along with your faith, manifest also a noble character: along with a noble character, knowledge; 5 And bringe ye in alle bisynesse, and mynystre ye in youre feith vertu, and `in vertu kunnyng; 5 Yes, and for this very cause adding on your part all diligence, in your faith supply virtue; and in [your] virtue knowledge; 5 And besides this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge; 5 For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith excellence, to excellence, knowledge; 5 But also for this very reason, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue, to virtue knowledge, 5 In view of all this, make every effort to respond to God's promises. Supplement your faith with a generous provision of moral excellence, and moral excellence with knowledge, 5 Do your best to add holy living to your faith. Then add to this a better understanding. 5 For this very reason, you must make every effort to support your faith with goodness, and goodness with knowledge, 5 And, for this very reason also - adding, on your part, all diligence, supply, in your faith, excellence, and, in your excellence, knowledge, 5 And you, employing all care, minister in your faith, virtue: And in virtue, knowledge: 5 For this very reason make every effort to supplement your faith with virtue, and virtue with knowledge, 5 And hervnto geve all diligence: in youre fayth minister vertve and in vertue knowledge 5 And this same also -- all diligence having brought in besides, superadd in your faith the worthiness, and in the worthiness the knowledge, 5 And [for] this same [reason] also, having brought in all diligence, supplement your faith with virtue, and with virtue—knowledge, 5 Geue ye all youre diligence therfore here vnto, and in youre faith mynister vertue: in vertue, knowlege: 5 Do you on your part employ all your care in adding to your faith, fortitude: to fortitude, knowledge: 5-9 So don't lose a minute in building on what you've been given, complementing your basic faith with good character, spiritual understanding, alert discipline, passionate patience, reverent wonder, warm friendliness, and generous love, each dimension fitting into and developing the others. With these qualities active and growing in your lives, no grass will grow under your feet, no day will pass without its reward as you mature in your experience of our Master Jesus. Without these qualities you can't see what's right before you, oblivious that your old sinful life has been wiped off the books.
5 Because of this, don't be lazy in responding to God's promises. Throw in a heaping of goodness on top of your faith. To your goodness, add a bunch of wisdom. 6 And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness; 6 and knowledge with self-control, and self-control (k)with steadfastness, and steadfastness with godliness,6 and in your knowledge, (C1)self-control, and in your self-control, (C2)perseverance, and in your perseverance, (C3)godliness, 6 and to your knowledge, add self-control; and to your self-control, add patience; and to your patience, add service for God; 6 and in your knowledge, (C1)self-control, and in your self-control, (C2)perseverance, and in your perseverance, (C3)godliness,6 and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; 6 self-control, patience, devotion to God, 6 knowledge with self-control, self-control with perseverance, perseverance with godliness, 6 in knowledge temperance, in temperance endurance, in endurance godliness, 6 to your knowledge add self-control; to your self-control add patience; to your patience add devotion to God;6 And with knowledge, temperance: and with temperance, patience: and with patience, godlines:6 And to knowledge, self-control; and to selfcontrol, patience; and to patience; godliness; 6 to your knowledge add self-control; to your self-control add endurance; to your endurance add godliness; 6 and with knowledge, self-control, and with self-control, patient endurance, and with patient endurance, godliness, 6 and with the knowledge self-control, and with the self-control patience, and with the patience godliness,
