David, King of Judah
1 Some time later, David inquired of the Lord:(C1) “Should I go to one of the towns of Judah?”
1 It happened after this, that David inquired of the LORD, saying, Shall I go up into any of the cities of Yehudah? the LORD said to him, Go up. David said, Where shall I go up? He said, To Hevron.
1 And it came to pass after this, that David enquired of the Lord, saying, Shall I go up into any of the cities of Judah? And the Lord said unto him, Go up. And David said, Whither shall I go up? And he said, Unto Hebron.
David Moves to Hebron
1 It happened after this that David inquired of Yahweh, saying, "Shall I go up into one of the cities of Judah?" And Yahweh said to him, "Go up." David asked, "Where shall I go up?" And he said, "To Hebron."
David Anointed King of Judah
1 After this David (a)inquired of the Lord, "Shall I go up into any of the cities of Judah?" And the Lord said to him, "Go up." David said, "To which shall I go up?" And he said, "To (b)Hebron."
David Is Made King of Judah
1 Later, David prayed to the Lord, saying, "Should I go up to any of the cities of Judah?"
The Lord said to David, "Go."
David asked, "Where should I go?"
The Lord answered, "To Hebron."
David is Anointed King
1 Afterward David inquired of the Lord, "Should I go up to one of the cities of Judah?" The Lord told him, "Go up." David asked, "Where should I go?" The Lord replied, "To Hebron."
David Made King over Judah
1 So it happened after this that (C1)David inquired of the LORD, saying, "Shall I go up into one of the cities of Judah?" And the LORD said to him, "Go up." David asked, "Where shall I go?" And He said, "To (C2)Hebron."

1 After this, Dauid asked counsel of the Lord, saying, Shall I go vp into any of the cities of Iudah? And the Lord sayd vnto him, Goe vp. And Dauid sayd Whither shall I goe? Hee then answered, Vnto Hebron.

David Becomes King of Judah
1 Later, David asked the Lord, "Should I go back to one of the towns of Judah?"
The Lord answered, "Yes."
David asked, "Which town should I go to?"
"Go to Hebron," the Lord replied.
1 After this, David consulted Adonai; he asked, "Should I go up into any of the cities of Y'hudah?" Adonai said to him, "Go up." David asked, "Where should I go up?" He said, "To Hevron."
1 And it came to pass after this that David inquired of Jehovah, saying, Shall I go up into one of the cities of Judah? And Jehovah said to him, Go up. And David said, Whither shall I go up? And he said, Unto Hebron.
David Is Anointed King of Judah
1 Later David asked the Lord for advice. David said, "Should I take control[a] of any of the cities of Judah?"
The Lord said to David, "Yes."
David asked, "Where should I go?"
The Lord answered, "To Hebron."
1 AND it came to pass after this, that David inquired of the LORD, saying, Shall I go up to one of the cities of Judah? And the LORD said to him, Go up. And David said, Whither shall I go up? And he said, To Hebron.

1 After this, David asked the Lord, "Shall I go and take control of one of the towns of Judah?"
"Yes," the Lord answered.
"Which one?" David asked.
"Hebron," the Lord said.
1 And it happened after this, David asked of Jehovah, saying, Shall I go up to one of the cities of Judah? And Jehovah said to him, Go up. And David said, Where shall I go up? And He said, To Hebron.
1 After these actes Dauid axed at the LORDE, and sayde: Shall I go vp in to one of the cities of Iuda? And the LORDE sayde vnto him: Go vp. Dauid sayde: Whither? He sayde: Vnto Hebron.

"Yes," the Lord replied.

1 After all this, David prayed. He asked God, "Shall I move to one of the cities of Judah?"
God said, "Yes, move."
"And to which city?"
"To Hebron."
David Made King over Judah
1 Then it came about afterwards that (C1)David inquired of the LORD, saying, "Shall I go up to one of the cities of Judah?" And the LORD said to him, "Go up." So David said, "Where shall I go up?" And He said, "(C2)To Hebron."
The Lord answered him, “Go.”
Then David asked, “Where should I go?”
“To Hebron,”(C2) the Lord replied.
2 So David went there with his two wives, Ahinoam the Jezreelite and Abigail, the widow of Nabal the Carmelite.(C1) 2 So David went up there, and his two wives also, Achino'am the Yizre`elite, and Avigayil the wife of Naval the Karmelite.
2 So David went up thither, and his two wives also, Ahinoam the Jezreelitess, and Abigail Nabal's wife the Carmelite. 2 So David went up there along with[a] his two wives, Ahinoam from Jezreel[b] and Abigail the wife of Nabal the Carmelite. 2 So David went up there, and (c)his two wives also, Ahinoam of Jezreel and Abigail the widow of Nabal of Carmel.

2 David went to Hebron with his two wives, Ahinoam and Abigail. Ahinoam was from Jezreel, and Abigail was the widow of Nabal from Carmel. 2 So David went up there with his two wives Achino‘am from Yizre‘el and Avigayil the widow of Naval from Karmel.

4 Then the men of Judah came, and there they anointed David king over the house of Judah.(C1) They told David: “It was the men of Jabesh-gilead who buried Saul.”(C2)4 The men of Yehudah came, and there they anointed David king over the house of Yehudah. They told David, saying, The men of Yavesh-Gil`ad were those who buried Sha'ul.4 And the men of Judah came, and there they anointed David king over the house of Judah. And they told David, saying, That the men of Jabeshgilead were they that buried Saul.
David Anointed King over Judah at Hebron
4 Then the men of Judah came, and they anointed David there as king over the house of Judah, and they told David, "The men of Jabesh-Gilead buried Saul." 4 And the men of Judah came, and there they anointed David (e)king over the house of Judah.
When they told David, (f)"It was the men of Jabesh-gilead who buried Saul," 4 Then the men of Judah came to Hebron and appointed David king over Judah.
They told David that the men of Jabesh Gilead had buried Saul. 4 The men of Judah came and there they anointed David as king over the people of Judah.
David was told, "The people of Jabesh Gilead are the ones who buried Saul."

4 The people of Judah met with David at Hebron and poured olive oil on his head to show that he was their new king. Then they told David, "The people from Jabesh in Gilead buried Saul."
4 Then the men of Y'hudah came, and there they anointed David king over the house of Y'hudah. They informed David that the men of Yavesh-Gil‘ad were the ones who had buried Sha'ul.
4 And the men of Judah came, and there they anointed David king over the house of Judah. And they told David, saying, It is the men of Jabesh-Gilead that have buried Saul.
4 The men of Judah came to Hebron and anointed David to be the king of Judah. Then they told David, "The men of Jabesh Gilead buried Saul."4 And the men of Judah came, and there they anointed David king over the house of Judah. And they told David, saying, It was the men of Jabesh-gilead who buried Saul. 4 (b)Then the men of Judah came to Hebron and anointed David as king of Judah.
When David heard that the people of Jabesh in Gilead had buried Saul, 4 And the men of Judah came and anointed David king over the house of Judah there. And they told David, saying, It was the men of Jabesh-gilead who buried Saul.4 And ye men of Iuda came, and there they anointed him kynge ouer the house of Iuda. And wha it was tolde Dauid, that they of Iabes in Gilead had buried Saul, 4 And the men of Judah came, and there they anointed David king over the house of Judah.
And they told David, saying, The men of Jabesh-gilead were they that buried Saul. 4 And the men of Judah came there, and with the holy oil made David king over the people of Judah. And word came to David that it was the men of Jabesh-gilead who put Saul's body in its last resting-place.4 And the men of Iuda came, and there they annoynted Dauid kyng ouer the house of Iuda: And they tolde Dauid, saying, It is the men of Iabes Gilead that buried Saul.4 And the men of Judah came, and they there anointed David king over the house of Judah. And they told David, saying: 'The men of Jabesh-gilead were they that buried Saul.' 4 And the men of Iudah came, and there they anointed Dauid king ouer the house of Iudah: and they tolde Dauid, saying; That the men of Iabesh Gilead were they that buried Saul. 4 And the men of Judea come, and anoint David there to reign over the house of Juda; and they reported to David, saying, The men of Jabis of the country of Galaad have buried Saul. 4 And the men of Judah came, and there they anointed David king over the house of Judah. And they told David, saying, The men of Jabesh–gilead were they that buried Saul. 4 Then the men of Judah came to Hebron, and there they anointed David king over the house of Judah. And they told David, “It was the men of Jabesh-gilead who buried Saul.”4 And the men of Juda camen, and anoyntiden there Dauid, that he schulde regne on the hows of Juda. And it was teld to Dauid, that men of Jabes of Galaad hadden biried Saul.4 And the men of Judah come, and anoint there David for king over the house of Judah; and they declare to David, saying, `The men of Jabesh-Gilead [are] they who buried Saul.'4 And the men of Judah came, and there they anointed David king over the house of Judah. And they told David, saying, The men of Jabesh-gilead were those that buried Saul.4 And the men of Judah came, and there they anointed David king over the house of Judah. And they told David, saying, [That] the men of Jabesh-gilead [were they] that buried Saul.4 The men of Judah came, and there they anointed David king over the house of Judah. They told David, saying, The men of Jabesh-gilead were those who buried Saul. 4 Then the men of Judah came, and there they anointed David king over the house of Judah. And they told David, saying, "The men of Jabesh Gilead were the ones who buried Saul." 4 Then the men of Judah came to David and anointed him king over the people of Judah.
When David heard that the men of Jabesh-gilead had buried Saul, 4 Then the men of Judah came and there they chose David to be king over the family of Judah.
They told David, "It was the men of Jabesh-gilead who buried Saul." 4 Then the people of Judah came, and there they anointed David king over the house of Judah.
When they told David, "It was the people of Jabesh-gilead who buried Saul," 4 Then came the men of Judah, and anointed David there, to be king over the house of Judah. And they told David, saying, Men of Jabesh-gilead, were they who buried Saul.4 And the men of Juda came, and anointed David there, to be king over the house of Juda. And it was told David that the men of Jabes Galaad had buried Saul.4 And the men of Judah came, and there they anointed David king over the house of Judah. When they told David, "It was the men of Ja'besh-gil'ead who buried Saul,"4 And the men of Judah come, and anoint David there for king over the house of Judah; and they declare to David, saying, "The men of Jabesh-Gilead [are] they who buried Saul."4-7 The citizens of Judah came to Hebron, and then and there made David king over the clans of Judah.
A report was brought to David that the men of Jabesh Gilead had given Saul a decent burial. David sent messengers to the men of Jabesh Gilead: "God bless you for this—for honoring your master, Saul, with a funeral. God honor you and be true to you—and I'll do the same, matching your generous act of goodness. Strengthen your resolve and do what must be done. Your master, Saul, is dead. The citizens of Judah have made me their king."
4 Then the men of Judah came and there (C1)anointed David king over the house of Judah.
5 David sent messengers to the men of Jabesh-gilead and said to them, “The Lord bless you, because you have shown this kindness to Saul your lord when you buried him. 5 David sent messengers to the men of Yavesh-Gil`ad, and said to them, Blessed be you of the LORD, that you have shown this kindness to your lord, even to Sha'ul, and have buried him.
5 And David sent messengers unto the men of Jabeshgilead, and said unto them, Blessed be ye of the Lord, that ye have shewed this kindness unto your lord, even unto Saul, and have buried him. 5 So David sent messengers to the men of Jabesh-Gilead and said to them, "May you be blessed by Yahweh because you did this loyal love with your lord, with Saul, and you buried him. 5 David sent messengers to the men of Jabesh-gilead and said to them, (g)"May you be blessed by the Lord, because you showed this loyalty to Saul your lord and buried him. 5 So David sent messengers to the men of Jabesh Gilead and said to them, "The Lord bless you. You have shown loyalty to your master Saul by burying him. 5 So David sent messengers to the people of Jabesh Gilead and told them, "May you be blessed by the Lord because you have shown this kindness to your lord Saul by burying him. 5 So David sent messengers to the men of Jabesh-gilead, and said to them, "(C1)May you be blessed by the LORD because you showed this graciousness and loyalty to Saul your lord (king), and buried him.5 So David sent messengers to the men of Jabesh-gilead, and said to them, "(C1)May you be blessed of the LORD because you have (F1)shown this kindness to Saul your lord, and have buried him.5 And Dauid sent messengers vnto the men of Iabesh Gilead, and said vnto them, Blessed are ye of the Lord, that yee haue shewed such kindenes vnto your lord Saul, yt you haue buried him.5 And David sent messengers to the men of Jabesh-gilead, and said to them, "(C1)May you be blessed of Yahweh because you have (F1)shown this lovingkindness with your lord, with Saul, and have buried him.
5 David sent messengers to tell them:
The Lord bless you! You were kind enough to bury Saul your ruler, 5 So David sent messengers to the men of Yavesh-Gil‘ad with this message: "May you be blessed by Adonai, because you showed this kindness to your lord, Sha'ul, and buried him.
5 And David sent messengers to the men of Jabesh-Gilead, and said to them, Blessed be ye of Jehovah, that ye have shewn this kindness to your lord, to Saul, and have buried him!
5 David sent messengers to the men of Jabesh Gilead. These messengers told the men in Jabesh: "The Lord bless you, because you have shown kindness to your lord Saul by burying him.[b]5 And David sent messengers to the men of Jabesh-gilead and said to them, Blessed be you of the LORD, that you have shown this kindness to your lord, even to Saul, and have buried him. 5 he sent some men there with the message: "May the Lord bless you for showing your loyalty to your king by burying him. 5 And David sent messengers to the men of Jabesh-gilead, and said to them, Blessed are you of Jehovah, in that you have done this kindness with your lord, with Saul, that you have buried him.5 he sent messaungers vnto them, sayenge: Blessed be ye of the LORDE, that ye haue done soch mercy vpon youre lorde Saul, and haue buried him. 5 And David sent messengers unto the men of Jabesh-gilead, and said unto them, Blessed be ye of Jehovah, that ye have showed this kindness unto your lord, even unto Saul, and have buried him. 5 And David sent to the men of Jabesh-gilead and said to them, May the Lord give you his blessing, because you have done this kind act to Saul your lord, and have put his body to rest!5 And Dauid sent messengers vnto the men of Iabes Gilead, and sayde vnto them: Blessed are ye vnto the lord, that ye haue shewed suche kindnesse vnto your lord Saul, and haue buried him.5 And David sent messengers unto the men of Jabesh-gilead, and said unto them: 'Blessed be ye of the LORD, that ye have shown this kindness unto your lord, even unto Saul, and have buried him.5 And Dauid sent messengers vnto the men of Iabesh Gilead, and said vnto them, Blessed be ye of the Lord, that ye haue shewed this kindnesse vnto your lord, euen vnto Saul, and haue buried him. 5 And David sent messengers to the rulers of Jabis of the country of Galaad, and David said to them, Blessed be ye of the Lord, because ye have wrought this mercy toward your lord, even toward Saul the anointed of the Lord, and ye have buried him and Jonathan his son. 5 And David sent messengers unto the men of Jabesh–gilead, and said unto them, Blessed be ye of the LORD, that ye have shewed this kindness unto your lord, even unto Saul, and have buried him. 5 So David sent messengers to the men of Jabesh-gilead to tell them, “The LORD bless you, because you have shown this kindness to Saul your lord when you buried him.5 Therfor Dauid sente messangeris to the men of Jabes of Galaad, and seide to hem, Blessid be ye of the Lord, that diden this mercy with your lord Saul, and birieden hym.5 And David sendeth messengers unto the men of Jabesh-Gilead, and saith unto them, `Blessed [are] ye of Jehovah, in that ye have done this kindness with your lord, with Saul, that ye bury him.5 And David sent messengers to the men of Jabesh-gilead, and said to them, Blessed be you of Yahweh, that you have shown this kindness to your lord, even to Saul, and have buried him.5 And David sent messengers to the men of Jabesh-gilead, and said to them, Blessed [be] ye of the LORD, that ye have shown this kindness to your lord, [even] to Saul, and have buried him.5 David sent messengers to the men of Jabesh-gilead, and said to them, Blessed be you of Yahweh, that you have shown this kindness to your lord, even to Saul, and have buried him. 5 So David sent messengers to the men of Jabesh Gilead, and said to them, "You are blessed of the LORD, for you have shown this kindness to your lord, to Saul, and have buried him. 5 he sent them this message: "May the Lord bless you for being so loyal to your master Saul and giving him a decent burial. 5 So David sent men with news to the men of Jabesh-gilead, saying, "May the Lord bring good to you. Because you have shown kindness to your king Saul, and have buried him. 5 David sent messengers to the people of Jabesh-gilead, and said to them, "May you be blessed by the Lord, because you showed this loyalty to Saul your lord, and buried him! 5 So David sent messengers unto the men of Jabesh-gilead, - and said unto them - Blessed, be ye of Yahweh, that ye did this lovingkindness unto your lord, unto Saul, and buried him.5 David therefore sent messengers to the men of Jabes Galaad, and said to them: Blessed be you to the Lord, who have shewn this mercy to your master Saul, and have buried him.5 David sent messengers to the men of Ja'besh-gil'ead, and said to them, "May you be blessed by the LORD, because you showed this loyalty to Saul your lord, and buried him!5 And David sends messengers to the men of Jabesh-Gilead and says to them, "Blessed [are] you of YHWH, in that you have done this kindness with your lord, with Saul, that you bury him.5 David sent messengers to the men of Jabesh-gilead, and said to them, "(C1)May you be blessed of the LORD because you have (F1)shown this kindness to Saul your lord, and have buried him.6 Now, may the Lord show kindness and faithfulness to you, and I will also show the same goodness to you because you have done this deed. 6 Now the LORD show lovingkindness and truth to you: and I also will requite you this kindness, because you have done this thing.
6 And now the Lord shew kindness and truth unto you: and I also will requite you this kindness, because ye have done this thing. 6 Now may Yahweh show loyal love and faithfulness with you. I will also show the good with you that you have done in this matter. 6 Now may the Lord show steadfast love and faithfulness to you. And I will do good to you because you have done this thing. 6 May the Lord now be loyal and true to you. I will also treat you well because you have done this. 6 Now may the Lord show you true kindness! I also will reward you, because you have done this deed. 6 "Now (C1)may the LORD show lovingkindness and truth and faithfulness to you. I too will show this goodness to you, because you have done this thing.6 "And now (C1)may the LORD (F1)show kindness and truth to you; and I also will (F1)show this goodness to you, because you have done this thing.6 Therefore now the Lorde shewe mercie and trueth vnto you: and I will recompence you this benefite, because ye haue done this thing.6 "So now, (C1)may Yahweh (F1)show lovingkindness and truth to you; and I also will (F1)show this goodness to you, because you have done this thing. 6 and I pray that the Lord will be kind and faithful to you. I will be your friend because of what you have done. 6 Now may Adonai show kindness and truth to you; and I too will show you favor because you have done this.
6 And now Jehovah shew kindness and faithfulness to you; and I also will requite you this good, because ye have done this thing. 6 The Lord will be kind and true to you, and so will I.6 And now may the LORD show kindness and truth to you; and I also will requite you this kindness, because you have done this thing. 6 And now may the Lord be kind and faithful to you. I too will treat you well because of what you have done. 6 And now, may Jehovah do with you in kindness and truth. And I also will do good to you because you have done this thing.6 The LORDE therfore shewe mercy now and faithfulnes vpon you. And because ye haue done this, I also wyll do you good. 6 And now Jehovah show lovingkindness and truth unto you: and I also will requite you this kindness, because ye have done this thing. 6 May the Lord be good and true to you: and I myself will see that your kind act is rewarded, because you have done this thing.6 And nowe the Lorde shewe mercy and trueth vnto you: And I will do you also suche kindnes, as ye haue done in this thing:6 And now the LORD show kindness and truth unto you; and I also will requite you this kindness, because ye have done this thing.6 And now the Lord shewe kindnesse and trueth vnto you: and I also will requite you this kindnesse, because ye haue done this thing. 6 And now may the Lord deal in mercy and truth towards you: and I also will requite towards you this good deed, because ye have done this. 6 And now the LORD shew kindness and truth unto you: and I also will requite you this kindness, because ye have done this thing. 6 Now may the LORD show you loving devotion and faithfulness, and I will also show you the same favor because you have done this.6 And now sotheli the Lord schal yelde to you merci and treuthe, but also Y schal yelde thankyng, for ye diden this word.6 `And, now, Jehovah doth with you kindness and truth, and also, I do with you this good because ye have done this thing;6 And now Yahweh show loving-kindness and truth to you: and I also will requite you this kindness, because you have done this thing.6 And now the LORD show kindness and truth to you: and I also will requite you this kindness, because ye have done this thing.6 Now Yahweh show lovingkindness and truth to you: and I also will requite you this kindness, because you have done this thing. 6 And now may the LORD show kindness and truth to you. I also will repay you this kindness, because you have done this thing. 6 May the Lord be loyal to you in return and reward you with his unfailing love! And I, too, will reward you for what you have done. 6 Now may the Lord show loving-kindness and truth to you. And I will do good to you, because you have done this. 6 Now may the Lord show steadfast love and faithfulness to you! And I too will reward you because you have done this thing. 6 Now, therefore, Yahweh requite you with lovingkindness and truth, - moreover also, I, will requite you, for this noble deed, in that ye did this thing.6 And now the Lord surely will render you mercy and truth, and I also will requite you for this good turn, because you have done this thing.6 Now may the LORD show steadfast love and faithfulness to you! And I will do good to you because you have done this thing.6 And now YHWH does kindness and truth with you, and I also do this good with you because you have done this thing;6 "Now (C1)may the LORD (F1)show lovingkindness and truth to you; and I also will (F1)show this goodness to you, because you have done this thing.7 Therefore, be strong(F1) and valiant, for though Saul your lord is dead, the house of Judah has anointed me king over them.”
