The Lord’s Covenant with David
1 When the king had settled into his palace(C1) and the Lord had given him rest on every side from all his enemies,
1 It happened, when the king lived in his house, and the LORD had given him rest from all his enemies round about,
1 And it came to pass, when the king sat in his house, and the Lord had given him rest round about from all his enemies;

1 King David moved into his new palace, and the Lord let his kingdom be at peace.
1 After the king had been living in his palace awhile and Adonai had given him rest from all his surrounding enemies,

1 After King David moved into his new house the Lord gave him some relief from all of his enemies around him.

Then one day King David said to Nathan the prophet, "Look at this: Here I am, comfortable in a luxurious house of cedar, and the Chest of God sits in a plain tent."
David Plans to Build a Temple
1 (C1)Now it came about when the king lived in his house, and the LORD had given him rest on every side from all his enemies,2 the king said to the prophet Nathan,(C1) “Look, I am living in a cedar house while the ark of God sits inside tent curtains.”(C2)
2 that the king said to Natan the prophet, See now, I dwell in a house of cedar, but the ark of God dwells within curtains.2 That the king said unto Nathan the prophet, See now, I dwell in an house of cedar, but the ark of God dwelleth within curtains. 2 And the king said to Nathan the prophet, "Look, please, I am living in a house of cedar, but the ark of God is staying in the middle of the tent." 2 the king said to (c)Nathan the prophet, "See now, I dwell (d)in a house of cedar, but the ark of God dwells (e)in a tent." 2 Then David said to Nathan the prophet, "Look, I am living in a palace made of cedar wood, but the Ark of God is in a tent!" 2 The king said to Nathan the prophet, "Look! I am living in a palace made from cedar, while the ark of God sits in the middle of a tent." 2 the king said to (C1)Nathan the prophet, "See now, I dwell in (C2)a house of cedar, but the ark of God (C3)dwells within tent curtains."2 that the king said to (C1)Nathan the prophet, "See now, I live in (C2)a house of cedar, but the ark of God (C3)remains within the tent."2 The King saide vnto Nathan the Prophet, Beholde, nowe I dwel in an house of cedar trees, and the Arke of God remayneth within the curtaines.2 that the king said to (C1)Nathan the prophet, "See now, I inhabit (C2)a house of cedar, but the ark of God (C3)inhabits tent curtains." 2 Then one day, as David was talking with Nathan the prophet, David said, "Look around! I live in a palace made of cedar, but the sacred chest has to stay in a tent." 2 the king said to Natan the prophet, "Here, I'm living in a cedar-wood palace; but the ark of God is kept in a tent!"
2 that the king said to Nathan the prophet, See now, I dwell in a house of cedars, and the ark of God dwells under curtains. 2 King David said to Nathan the prophet, "Look, I am living in a fancy house made of cedar wood, but God's Holy Box is still kept in a tent!"2 The king said to Nathan the prophet, See now, I dwell in a house of cedar, but the ark of God dwells within curtains. 2 Then the king said to the prophet Nathan, "Here I am living in a house built of cedar, but God's Covenant Box is kept in a tent!"2 The king said to Nathan the prophet, See, now, I am living in a house of cedar, and the ark of God dwells within tent curtains.2 he sayde vnto the prophet Nathan: Beholde, I dwell in a house of Cedre, and the Arke of God dwelleth amonge the curtaynes. 2 that the king said unto Nathan the prophet, See now, I dwell in a house of cedar, but the ark of God dwelleth within curtains. 2 The king said to Nathan the prophet, See now, I am living in a house of cedar, but the ark of God is housed inside the curtains of a tent.2 The king sayde vnto Nathan the prophete: Beholde, I dwell nowe in an house of Cedar trees, but the arke of God dwelleth within the curtaynes.2 that the king said unto Nathan the prophet: 'See now, I dwell in a house of cedar, but the ark of God dwelleth within curtains.'2 That the king said vnto Nathan the Prophet, See now, I dwell in an house of Cedar, but the Arke of God dwelleth within curtaines. 2 that the king said to Nathan the prophet, Behold now, I live in a house of cedar, and the ark of the Lord dwells in the midst of a tent. 2 that the king said unto Nathan the prophet, See now, I dwell in an house of cedar, but the ark of God dwelleth within curtains. 2 he said to Nathan the prophet, “Here I am, living in a house of cedar, while the ark of God remains in a tent.”2 he seyde to Nathan the prophete, Seest thou not, that Y dwelle in an hows of cedre, and the arke of God is put in the myddis of skynnys?2 that the king saith unto Nathan the prophet, `See, I pray thee, I am dwelling in a house of cedars, and the ark of God is dwelling in the midst of the curtain.'2 that the king said to Nathan the prophet, See now, I dwell in a house of cedar, but the ark of God dwells inside curtains.2 That the king said to Nathan the prophet, See now, I dwell in a house of cedar, but the ark of God dwelleth within curtains.2 that the king said to Nathan the prophet, See now, I dwell in a house of cedar, but the ark of God dwells within curtains. 2 that the king said to Nathan the prophet, "See now, I dwell in a house of cedar, but the ark of God dwells inside tent curtains." 2 the king summoned Nathan the prophet. "Look," David said, "I am living in a beautiful cedar palace,[a] but the Ark of God is out there in a tent!" 2 the king said to Nathan, the man who spoke for God, "See now, I live in a house of cedar wood. But the special box of God stays within tent curtains." 2 the king said to the prophet Nathan, "See now, I am living in a house of cedar, but the ark of God stays in a tent." 2 that the king said unto Nathan the prophet, See, I pray thee - I, have my abode in a house, of cedar, but, the ark of God, abideth in, the midst, of curtains.2 He said to Nathan the prophet: Dost thou see that I dwell in a house of cedar, and the ark of God is lodged within skins?2 the king said to Nathan the prophet, "See now, I dwell in a house of cedar, but the ark of God dwells in a tent."2 that the king says to Nathan the prophet, "Now see, I am dwelling in a house of cedars, but the Ark of God is dwelling in the midst of the curtain."2 that the king said to (C1)Nathan the prophet, "See now, I dwell in (C2)a house of cedar, but the ark of God (C3)dwells within tent curtains."
3 So Nathan told the king, “Go and do all that is on your mind, for the Lord is with you.”
3 Natan said to the king, Go, do all that is in your heart; for the LORD is with you.3 And Nathan said to the king, Go, do all that is in thine heart; for the Lord is with thee. 3 Nathan said to the king, "Go and do all that is in your heart, for Yahweh is with you." 3 And Nathan said to the king, (f)"Go, do all that is in your heart, for the Lord is with you."
3 Nathan said to the king, "Go and do what you really want to do, because the Lord is with you." 3 Nathan replied to the king, "You should go and do whatever you have in mind, for the Lord is with you." 3 And Nathan said to the king, "(C1)Go, do everything that is in your heart, for the LORD is with you."
3 Nathan said to the king, "(C1)Go, do all that is in your mind, for the LORD is with you."3 Then Nathan sayde vnto the King, Go, and doe all that is in thine heart: for the Lord is with thee.3 So Nathan said to the king, "(C1)Go, do all that is in your heart, for Yahweh is with you."3 Nathan replied, "The Lord is with you, so do what you want!" 3 Natan said to the king, "Go, do everything that is in your heart, for Adonai is with you."
3 And Nathan said to the king, Go, do all that is in thy heart; for Jehovah is with thee.
3 Nathan said to King David, "Do whatever you want to do. The Lord will be with you."3 And Nathan said to the king, Go, do all that is in your heart; for the LORD is with you.
3 Nathan answered, "Do whatever you have in mind, because the Lord is with you." 3 And Nathan said to the king, All that is in your heart, go, do. 3 Nathan replied to the king, "Go ahead and do whatever you have in mind, for the Lord is with you." 3 Nathan said to the king, "Go and do all that is in your mind. For the Lord is with you." 3 Nathan said to the king, "Go, do all that you have in mind; for the Lord is with you."3 And Nathan said unto the king, All that is in thy heart, go - do, - for Yahweh is with thee.3 And Nathan said to the king: Go, do all that is in they heart: because the Lord is with thee.3 And Nathan said to the king, "Go, do all that is in your heart; for the LORD is with you."3 And Nathan says to the king, "All that [is] in your heart—go, do, for YHWH [is] with you."
3 Nathan told the king, "Whatever is on your heart, go and do it. God is with you."3 Nathan said to the king, "(C1)Go, do all that is in your mind, for the LORD is with you."
4 But that night the word of the Lord came to Nathan:
4 It happened the same night, that the word of the LORD came to Natan, saying,
4 And it came to pass that night, that the word of the Lord came unto Nathan, saying, 4 But it happened that night,[a] the word of Yahweh came[b] to Nathan, saying,
4 But that same night the word of the Lord came to Nathan,
4 But that night the Lord spoke his word to Nathan, 4 That night the Lord told Nathan,

4 And it comes to pass in that night, that the word of YHWH is to Nathan, saying,4-7 But that night, the word of God came to Nathan saying, "Go and tell my servant David: This is God's word on the matter: You're going to build a ‘house' for me to live in? Why, I haven't lived in a ‘house' from the time I brought the children of Israel up from Egypt till now. All that time I've moved about with nothing but a tent. And in all my travels with Israel, did I ever say to any of the leaders I commanded to shepherd Israel, ‘Why haven't you built me a house of cedar?'
4 But in the same night the word of the LORD came to Nathan, saying,5 “Go to my servant David and say, ‘This is what the Lord says: Are you to build me a house to dwell in?(C1) 5 Go and tell my servant David, Thus says the LORD, Shall you build me a house for me to dwell in?
5 Go and tell my servant David, Thus saith the Lord, Shalt thou build me an house for me to dwell in? 5 "Go and tell my servant David, ‘Thus says Yahweh: "Are you the one to build for me a house for my dwelling? 5 "Go and tell my servant David, ‘Thus says the Lord: (g)Would you build me a house to dwell in? 5 "Go and tell my servant David, ‘This is what the Lord says: Will you build a house for me to live in? 5 "Go, tell my servant David: ‘This is what the Lord says: Do you really intend to build a house for me to live in? 5 "Go and tell My servant David, 'Thus says the LORD, "(C1)Should you be the one to build Me a house in which to dwell?5 "Go and say to My servant David, 'This is what the LORD says: "(C1)Should you build Me a house for My dwelling?5 Goe and tell my seruant Dauid, Thus saieth the Lord, Shalt thou buylde me an house for my dwelling?5 "Go and say to My servant David, 'Thus says Yahweh, "(C1)Are you the one who would build Me a house to inhabit? 5 to go to David and give him this message:
David, you are my servant, so listen to what I say. Why should you build a temple for me? 5 "Go and tell my servant David that this is what Adonai says: ‘You are going to build me a house to live in?
5 Go and say to my servant, to David, Thus saith Jehovah: Wilt thou build me a house for me to dwell in?
5 "Go and tell my servant David, ‘This is what the Lord says: You are not the one to build a house for me to live in.5 Go and tell my servant David, Thus says the LORD, You shall not build me a house for me to dwell in; 5 "Go and tell my servant David that I say to him, ‘You are not the one to build a temple for me to live in. 5 Go, and you shall say to My servant, to David, So says Jehovah, Will you build a house for Me, for My dwelling?5 Go & speake to my seruaut Dauid: Thus sayeth ye LORDE: Shalt thou buylde me an house to dwell in? 5 Go and tell my servant David, Thus saith Jehovah, Shalt thou build me a house for me to dwell in? 5 Go and say to my servant David, The Lord says, Are you to be the builder of a house, a living-place for me?5 Go, and tell my seruaunt Dauid, thus sayeth the Lorde: shalt thou buylde me an house to dwell in?5 'Go and tell My servant David: Thus saith the LORD: Shalt thou build Me a house for Me to dwell in?5 Goe and tell my seruant Dauid, Thus sayth the Lord, Shalt thou build me an house for me to dwell in? 5 Go, and say to my servant David, Thus says the Lord, Thou shalt not build me a house for me to dwell in. 5 Go and tell my servant David, Thus saith the LORD, Shalt thou build me an house for me to dwell in? 5 “Go and tell My servant David that this is what the LORD says: Are you the one to build for Me a house to dwell in?5 and speke to my servaunt Dauid, The Lord seith these thingis, Whether thou schalt bilde to me an hows to dwelle ynne?5 `Go, and thou hast said unto My servant, unto David, Thus said Jehovah, Dost thou build for Me a house for My dwelling in?5 Go and tell my slave David, Thus says Yahweh, Shall you build me a house for me to dwell in?5 Go and tell my servant David, Thus saith the LORD, Wilt thou build me a house for me to dwell in?5 Go and tell my servant David, Thus says Yahweh, Shall you build me a house for me to dwell in? 5 "Go and tell My servant David, "Thus says the LORD: "Would you build a house for Me to dwell in?
5 "Go and tell my servant David, ‘This is what the Lord has declared: Are you the one to build a house for me to live in? 5 "Go and tell My servant David, ‘This is what the Lord says, "Are you the one who should build a house for Me to live in? 5 Go and tell my servant David: Thus says the Lord: Are you the one to build me a house to live in? 5 Go and say unto my servant - unto David: Thus, saith Yahweh, - Shalt, thou, build me a house, for me to dwell in;5 Go, and say to my servant David: Thus saith the Lord: Shalt thou build me a house to dwell in?5 "Go and tell my servant David, 'Thus says the LORD: Would you build me a house to dwell in?5 "Go, and you have said to My servant, to David, Thus said YHWH: Do you build for Me a house for My dwelling in?5 "Go and say to My servant David, 'Thus says the LORD, "(C1)Are you the one who should build Me a house to dwell in?6 From the time I brought the Israelites out of Egypt until today I have not dwelt in a house; instead, I have been moving around with a tent as my dwelling.(C1) 6 for I have not lived in a house since the day that I brought up the children of Yisra'el out of Mitzrayim, even to this day, but have walked in a tent and in a tent.
6 Whereas I have not dwelt in any house since the time that I brought up the children of Israel out of Egypt, even to this day, but have walked in a tent and in a tabernacle. 6 For I have not dwelt in a house from the day I brought up the Israelites[c] from Egypt until this day; rather, I was going about in a tent and in a tabernacle. 6 I have not lived in a house (h)since the day I brought up the people of Israel from Egypt to this day, but I have been moving about (i)in a tent for my dwelling. 6 From the time I brought the Israelites out of Egypt until now I have not lived in a house. I have been moving around all this time with a tent as my home. 6 I have not lived in a house from the time I brought the Israelites up from Egypt to the present day. Instead, I was traveling with them and living in a tent. 6 "For (C1)I have not dwelt in a house since the day I brought the sons (descendants) of Israel up from Egypt, even to this day; but I have been moving about (C2)in a tent, even in a tabernacle.6 "For (C1)I have not dwelt in a house since the day I brought up the sons of Israel from Egypt, even to this day; rather, I have been moving about (C2)in a tent, that is, in a dwelling place.6 For I haue dwelt in no house since the time that I brought the children of Israel out of Egypt vnto this day, but haue walked in a tent and tabernacle.6 "For (C1)I have not inhabited a house since the day I brought up the sons of Israel from Egypt, even to this day; but I have been going about (C2)in a tent, even in a (F1)tabernacle. 6 I didn't live in a temple when I brought my people out of Egypt, and I don't live in one now. A tent has always been my home wherever I have gone with them. 6 Since the day I brought the people of Isra'el out of Egypt until today, I never lived in a house; rather, I traveled in a tent and a tabernacle.
6 For I have not dwelt in a house since the day that I brought up the children of Israel out of Egypt, even to this day, but I went about in a tent and in a tabernacle. 6 I did not live in a house at the time I took the Israelites out of Egypt. No, I traveled around in a tent.
