She named the child I-Khavod [without glory], saying, "The glory has departed from Isra'el"; because the ark of God had been captured, and because of her father-in-law and husband.
And she named the child Ichabod, saying, The glory is departed from Israel; because the ark of God was taken, and because of her father-in-law and her husband.
She named the baby Ichabod, that is to say, "Israel's glory has been taken away." She did this because God's Holy Box was taken away and because both her father-in-law and her husband were dead.
