¹ And these are the divisions of the sons of Aaron. The sons of Aaron were Nadab and Abihu, Eleazar and Ithamar. ² But Nadab and Abihu died before their father, and they had no sons. And Eleazar and Ithamar were priests. ³ And David divided them according to their offices in their service, even Zadok of the sons of Eleazar, and Ahimelech of the sons of Ithamar. ⁴ And more sons of Eleazar were found than the sons of Ithamar, for heads of the men. And they divided them. For the sons of Eleazar were : sixteen chiefs to their father's house; and eight tothe sons of Ithamar, to the house of theirfathers. ⁵ So they divided them by lots, these with these.
