¹And Rehoboam comes to Jerusalem, and assembles the house of Judah and Benjamin—one hundred and eighty thousand chosen warriors—to fight with Israel, to bring back the kingdom to Rehoboam. ²And a word of YHWH is to Shemaiah, a man of God, saying, ³"Speak to Rehoboam son of Solomon king of Judah, and to all Israel in Judah and Benjamin, saying, ⁴Thus said YHWH: You do not go up nor fight with your brothers! Let each return to his house, for this thing has been from Me"; and they hear the words of YHWH, and turn back from going against Jeroboam. ⁵And Rehoboam dwells in Jerusalem, and builds cities for a bulwark in Judah, ⁶indeed, he builds Beth-Lehem, and Etam, and Tekoa, ⁷and Beth-Zur, and Shocho, and Adullam, ⁸and Gath, and Mareshah, and Ziph, ⁹and Adoraim, and Lachish, and Azekah,¹⁰and Zorah, and Aijalon, and Hebron, that [are] in Judah and in Benjamin, cities of bulwarks.

And Adoraim,.... Called by Josephus d Adora, which he mentions along with Mareshah, or Marissa:

and Lachish: a royal city in the time of the Canaanites, and which fell to the lot of Judah, Joshua 12:11,

and Azekah; a city situated in the plain of Judah, Joshua 10:10.

Barnes' Notes on the Bible

The site of Adoraim is uncertain. For Lachish, see Joshua 10:3; Azekah, Joshua 10:10; Zorah, Joshua 15:33; Aijalon, Joshua 10:12; Hebron, Joshua 14:15. No one of the cities was really within the limits of the tribe of Benjamin. The writer uses the phrase “Judah and Benjamin” merely as the common designation of the southern kingdom (compare 2 Chronicles 11:12 and 2 Chronicles 11:23).
