Verse 1

Acts 24:1

Tertullus ... 1) a Roman name; 2) a hired lawyer

informed ... = a technical word which implies and indictment of charges. See NASB

Verse 2

Acts 24:2

quietness ... peace. Felix had restored tranquility. He had routed bands of robbers and assassins.

providence ... like that of God. Coins read "Providence of Caesar" in flattery.

Verse 4

Acts 24:4

tedious ... weary, don’t want to detain you too long.

clemency ... idea of equitable consideration. Flattery, for Felix was an avaricious man, not a lover of righteousness.

Charges: Paul is an "epidemic", charged everywhere!

1. Insurrection - a) Antioch; b) Iconium; c) Ephesus; d) Thessalonica

2. Leader of an illegal religion - not licensed by the State
