Let the Hebrews

הָעִבְרִֽים׃

of the Philistines

פְּלִשְׁתִּ֔ים

was had in abomination

to the Philistines

bap·pə·liš·tîm;

בַּפְּלִשְׁתִּ֑ים

And were called together

way·yiṣ·ṣā·‘ă·qū

וַיִּצָּעֲק֥וּ

hag·gil·gāl.

הַגִּלְגָּֽל׃

and the Philistines

ū·p̄ə·liš·tîm

וּפְלִשְׁתִּ֞ים

gathered themselves together

נֶאֶסְפ֣וּ ׀

lə·hil·lā·ḥêm

[is] the sea

in abundance

and they came up

way·ya·‘ă·lū

וַֽיַּעֲלוּ֙

way·ya·ḥă·nū

from Beth-aven

when the men

they were in a strait

were distressed

for the people

then did hide themselves

way·yiṯ·ḥab·bə·’ū

וַיִּֽתְחַבְּא֣וּ

themselves in caves

bam·mə·‘ā·rō·wṯ

בַּמְּעָר֤וֹת

and in thickets

ū·ḇa·ḥă·wā·ḥîm

וּבַֽחֲוָחִים֙

and in rocks

ū·ḇas·sə·lā·‘îm,

וּבַסְּלָעִ֔ים

and in high places

ū·ḇaṣ·ṣə·ri·ḥîm

וּבַצְּרִחִ֖ים

ū·ḇab·bō·rō·wṯ.

וּבַבֹּרֽוֹת׃

hay·yar·dên,

הַיַּרְדֵּ֔ן

and As for Saul

ḇag·gil·gāl,

בַגִּלְגָּ֔ל

the people him

(way·yō·w·ḥel

according to the appointed

lam·mō·w·‘êḏ

[had appointed] but Samuel

hag·gil·gāl;

הַגִּלְגָּ֑ל

and were scattered

a burnt offering

and peace offerings

wə·haš·šə·lā·mîm;

וְהַשְּׁלָמִ֑ים

and he offered

the burnt offering

And it came to pass

As soon as he finished

kə·ḵal·lō·ṯōw

כְּכַלֹּתוֹ֙

lə·ha·‘ă·lō·wṯ

the burnt offering

and went out

out to meet him

who he might salute

lə·ḇā·ră·ḵōw.

have you done

were scattered

that the people

do that you did not come

inside the days

[that] and the Philistines

ū·p̄ə·liš·tîm

וּפְלִשְׁתִּ֖ים

gathered themselves together

ne·’ĕ·sā·p̄îm

Therefore said

will come down

The Philistines

פְלִשְׁתִּ֤ים

hag·gil·gāl,

הַגִּלְגָּ֔ל

do made supplication

and I forced myself

wā·’eṯ·’ap·paq,

וָֽאֶתְאַפַּ֔ק

wā·’a·‘ă·leh

a burnt offering

you have done foolishly

nis·kā·lə·tā;

נִסְכָּ֑לְתָּ

He commanded

have established

would the LORD

your kingdom

mam·laḵ·tə·ḵā

מַֽמְלַכְתְּךָ֛

your kingdom

mam·laḵ·tə·ḵā

מַמְלַכְתְּךָ֣

after his own heart

and has commanded

way·ṣaw·wê·hū

וַיְצַוֵּ֨הוּ

[to be] him captain

and got him up

הַגִּלְגָּ֖ל

And numbered

way·yip̄·qōḏ

[that were] present

han·nim·ṣə·’îm

הַנִּמְצְאִ֣ים

and Jonathan

wə·yō·w·nā·ṯān

and the people

[that were] present

but the Philistines

ū·p̄ə·liš·tîm

וּפְלִשְׁתִּ֖ים

בְמִכְמָֽשׂ׃

And came out

the spoilers

הַמַּשְׁחִ֛ית

from the camp

mim·ma·ḥă·nêh

of the Philistines

פְלִשְׁתִּ֖ים

[that leads to] Ophrah

[to] Beth-horon

[to] the way

of the border

han·niš·qāp̄

הַנִּשְׁקָ֛ף

haṣ·ṣə·ḇō·‘îm

הַצְּבֹעִ֖ים

toward the wilderness

ham·miḏ·bā·rāh.

הַמִּדְבָּֽרָה׃

and blacksmith

the Philistines

p̄ə·liš·tîm,

פְלִשְׁתִּ֔ים

[them] swords

and went down

way·yê·rə·ḏū

the Israelites

to the Philistines

hap·pə·liš·tîm;

הַפְּלִשְׁתִּ֑ים

ma·ḥă·raš·tōw

מַחֲרַשְׁתּ֤וֹ

qar·dum·mōw,

קַרְדֻּמּ֔וֹ

ma·ḥă·rê·šā·ṯōw.

מַחֲרֵשָׁתֽוֹ׃

and Yet they had

wə·hā·yə·ṯāh

hap·pə·ṣî·rāh

הַפְּצִ֣ירָה

of a shekel for the plowshares

lam·ma·ḥă·rê·šōṯ

לַמַּֽחֲרֵשֹׁת֙

and for the colters

wə·lā·’ê·ṯîm,

וְלָ֣אֵתִ֔ים

and for the forks

וְלִשְׁלֹ֥שׁ

qil·lə·šō·wn

for the axes

ū·lə·haq·qar·dum·mîm;

וּלְהַקַּרְדֻּמִּ֑ים

and to sharpen

ū·lə·haṣ·ṣîḇ

וּלְהַצִּ֖יב

had·dā·rə·ḇān.

הַדָּרְבָֽן׃

so it came to pass

in the hands

of the people

yō·w·nā·ṯān;

and was there found

wat·tim·mā·ṣê

וַתִּמָּצֵ֣א

and with Jonathan

ū·lə·yō·w·nā·ṯān

וּלְיוֹנָתָ֖ן

And went out

the garrison

of the Philistines

פְּלִשְׁתִּ֔ים
