And it came to pass

wa·’ă·nā·šāw

וַאֲנָשָׁ֛יו

haš·šə·lî·šî;

הַשְּׁלִישִׁ֑י

וַעֲמָלֵקִ֣י

וַיִּשְׂרְפ֥וּ

וַֽאֲנָשָׁיו֙

וּנְשֵׁיהֶ֛ם

and their daughers

וּבְנֹתֵיהֶ֖ם

were taken captives

וַיִּבְכּ֑וּ

וּשְׁלֹשָׁ֥ה

וַיַּעַזְבֵ֧נִי

פָּשַׁ֜טְנוּ

can you bring me down

הֲתוֹרִדֵ֖נִי

הִשָּׁבְעָה֩

that you will neither

tə·mî·ṯê·nî,

תְּמִיתֵ֗נִי

tas·gi·rê·nî

תַּסְגִּרֵ֙נִי֙

into the hands

of my master

and I will bring you down

wə·’ō·w·riḏ·ḵā

וְאוֹרִֽדְךָ֖

when he had brought him down

way·yō·ri·ḏê·hū,

וַיֹּ֣רִדֵ֔הוּ

[they were] spread abroad

and drinking

wə·ḥō·ḡə·ḡîm,

וְחֹ֣גְגִ֔ים

because of all

hag·gā·ḏō·wl,

they had taken

from the land

of the Philistines

פְּלִשְׁתִּ֖ים

and out of the land

from the twilight

mê·han·ne·šep̄

מֵהַנֶּ֥שֶׁף

lə·mā·ḥo·rā·ṯām;

לְמָֽחֳרָתָ֑ם

do there escaped

hag·gə·mal·lîm

הַגְּמַלִּ֖ים

way·yā·nu·sū.

וַיָּנֻֽסוּ׃

And recovered

had carried away

the Amalekites

hag·gā·ḏō·wl

nor daughers

neither spoil

ū·miš·šā·lāl,

וּמִשָּׁלָ֔ל

[thing] they had taken

and the herds

wə·hab·bā·qār;

[which] they drove

[other] livestock

way·yō·mə·rū,

וַיֹּ֣אמְר֔וּ

[is] of David

the two hundred

hā·’ă·nā·šîm

הָאֲנָשִׁ֜ים

were so faint

פִּגְּר֣וּ ׀

and whom they had made also to abide

way·yō·šî·ḇum

וַיֹּֽשִׁיבֻם֙

at the brook

hab·bə·śō·wr,

and they went forth

way·yê·ṣə·’ū

וַיֵּֽצְאוּ֙

when came near

to the people

and he saluted

וַיִּשְׁאַ֥ל

lə·šā·lō·wm.

Then answered

[men] and of Belial

ū·ḇə·lî·ya·‘al,

וּבְלִיַּ֗עַל

mê·hā·’ă·nā·šîm

מֵֽהָאֲנָשִׁים֮

way·yō·mə·rū,

וַיֹּאמְר֗וּ

מֵהַשָּׁלָ֖ל

we have recovered

to every man

his children

and [them] that they may lead away

wə·yin·hă·ḡū

וְיִנְהֲג֖וּ

וַיִּשְׁמֹ֣ר

and delivered

way·yit·tên,

into our hand

bə·yā·ḏê·nū.

בְּיָדֵֽנוּ׃

to you in this

For as his share

that goes down

to the battle

bam·mil·ḥā·māh,

בַּמִּלְחָמָ֗ה

so his part [are]

that tarries

they shall part

ya·ḥă·lō·qū.

from that day

mê·hay·yō·wm

that forward

wā·mā·‘ə·lāh;

way·śi·me·hā

וַיְשִׂמֶ֜הָ

it a statute

and an ordinance

ū·lə·miš·pāṭ

וּלְמִשְׁפָּט֙

lə·yiś·rā·’êl,

לְיִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל

וַיְשַׁלַּ֧ח

of the spoil

מֵֽהַשָּׁלָ֛ל

בְּאֶשְׁתְּמֹֽעַ׃

And to that [were]

wə·la·’ă·šer

and to that [were]

wə·la·’ă·šer

וְלַֽאֲשֶׁר֙

in the cities

of the Jerahmeelites

hay·yə·raḥ·mə·’ê·lî,

הַיְּרַחְמְאֵלִ֔י

and to that [were]

wə·la·’ă·šer

in the cities

of the Kenites

And to that [were]

wə·la·’ă·šer

bə·ḥā·rə·māh

wə·la·’ă·šer

in Chor-ashan

and to that [were]

wə·la·’ă·šer

And to that [were]

wə·la·’ă·šer

bə·ḥeḇ·rō·wn;

בְּחֶבְר֑וֹן

ham·mə·qō·mō·wṯ

הַמְּקֹמ֛וֹת

were wont to haunt

hiṯ·hal·leḵ-

הִתְהַלֶּךְ־

wa·’ă·nā·šāw.

וַאֲנָשָֽׁיו׃
