Now these [are]

miṣ·rā·yə·māh;

מִצְרָ֑יְמָה

and his household

yiś·śā·š·ḵār

and Benjamin

ū·ḇə·nə·yā·min

וּבְנְיָמִֽן׃

and Naphtali

wə·nap̄·tā·lî

וְנַפְתָּלִ֖י

that came out

of the loins

wə·yō·w·sêp̄

ḇə·miṣ·rā·yim.

בְמִצְרָֽיִם׃

his brothers

and the children

were fruitful

and increased abundantly

way·yiš·rə·ṣū

וַֽיִּשְׁרְצ֛וּ

and multiplied

וַיִּרְבּ֥וּ

and became mighty

way·ya·‘aṣ·mū

וַיַּֽעַצְמ֖וּ

and was filled

wat·tim·mā·lê

וַתִּמָּלֵ֥א

Now there arose

and mightier

let us deal wisely

niṯ·ḥak·kə·māh

נִֽתְחַכְּמָ֖ה

they multiply

and it come to pass

there falls out

wə·nō·w·sap̄

śō·nə·’ê·nū,

שֹׂ֣נְאֵ֔ינוּ

and get them up

Therefore they did set

way·yā·śî·mū

וַיָּשִׂ֤ימוּ

to the end that

they were afflicted

with heavy burdens

bə·siḇ·lō·ṯām;

בְּסִבְלֹתָ֑ם

And they built

mis·kə·nō·wṯ

מִסְכְּנוֹת֙

lə·p̄ar·‘ōh,

But the more

wə·ḵa·’ă·šer

they afflicted

they multiplied

and the more

And they were grieved

way·yā·qu·ṣū

יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃

and to serve

way·ya·‘ă·ḇi·ḏū

וַיַּעֲבִ֧דוּ

the Egyptians

made the children

way·mā·rə·rū

וַיְמָרְר֨וּ

they made their lives

ba·‘ă·ḇō·ḏāh

with hard labor

and in brick

ū·ḇil·ḇê·nîm,

וּבִלְבֵנִ֔ים

and in all manner

in the field

their service

‘ă·ḇō·ḏā·ṯām,

they made them serve

unto the midwives

lam·yal·lə·ḏōṯ

לַֽמְיַלְּדֹ֖ת

of the Hebrews

hā·‘iḇ·rî·yōṯ;

הָֽעִבְרִיֹּ֑ת

of the one [was]

and the name

of the other

when you help give birth

bə·yal·leḏ·ḵen

בְּיַלֶּדְכֶן֙

the Hebrew women

hā·‘iḇ·rî·yō·wṯ,

הָֽעִבְרִיּ֔וֹת

and see them

[em] the stools

hā·’ā·ḇə·nā·yim;

הָאָבְנָ֑יִם

then you shall kill

wa·hă·mit·ten

then she shall live

wat·tî·re·nā

וַתִּירֶ֤אןָ

the midwives

ham·yal·lə·ḏōṯ

הַֽמְיַלְּדֹת֙

hā·’ĕ·lō·hîm,

הָ֣אֱלֹהִ֔ים

from the king

but they let live

wat·tə·ḥay·ye·nā

וַתְּחַיֶּ֖יןָ

the male children

הַיְלָדִֽים׃

unto the midwives

lam·yal·lə·ḏōṯ,

לַֽמְיַלְּדֹ֔ת

have you done

and have let live

wat·tə·ḥay·ye·nā

וַתְּחַיֶּ֖יןָ

the male children

הַיְלָדִֽים׃

wat·tō·mar·nā

וַתֹּאמַ֤רְןָ

the midwives

ham·yal·lə·ḏōṯ

הַֽמְיַלְּדֹת֙

as the women

ham·miṣ·rî·yōṯ

הַמִּצְרִיֹּ֖ת

[are] the Hebrew women

hā·‘iḇ·rî·yōṯ;

הָֽעִבְרִיֹּ֑ת

are delivered

ham·yal·le·ḏeṯ

הַמְיַלֶּ֖דֶת

are born their babies

wə·yā·lā·ḏū.

and dealt well

to the midwives

lam·yal·lə·ḏōṯ;

לַֽמְיַלְּדֹ֑ת

and multiplied

and they became mighty

way·ya·‘aṣ·mū

וַיַּֽעַצְמ֖וּ

And it came to pass

the midwives

ham·yal·lə·ḏōṯ

הַֽמְיַלְּדֹ֖ת

hā·’ĕ·lō·hîm;

that he made

that is born

hay·yil·lō·wḏ,

into the river

you shall cast

taš·lî·ḵu·hū,

תַּשְׁלִיכֻ֔הוּ

you shall save alive

תְּחַיּֽוּן׃
