בְּעֵ֣ינֵיכֶ֔ם

made me swear

hiš·bî·‘a·nî

הִשְׁבִּיעַ֣נִי

shall you bury me

tiq·bə·rê·nî;

תִּקְבְּרֵ֑נִי

Now therefore

let me go up

wə·’eq·bə·rāh

וְאֶקְבְּרָ֥ה

and I will return

wə·’ā·šū·ḇāh.

וְאָשֽׁוּבָה׃

according as

he made you swear

hiš·bî·‘e·ḵā.

הִשְׁבִּיעֶֽךָ׃

and him went up

way·ya·‘ă·lū

וַיַּֽעֲל֨וּ

the servants

of his household

and his brothers

and the house

of his father

their little ones

and their flocks

and their herds

ū·ḇə·qā·rām,

And there went up

ham·ma·ḥă·neh

הַֽמַּחֲנֶ֖ה

And they came

way·yā·ḇō·’ū

the threshing floor

hay·yar·dên,

הַיַּרְדֵּ֔ן

and they mourned

way·yis·pə·ḏū-

וַיִּ֨סְפְּדוּ־

with lamentation

for his father

when the inhabitants

the Canaanites

hak·kə·na·‘ă·nî

הַֽכְּנַעֲנִ֜י

the mourning

at the threshing

and they said

way·yō·mə·rū,

וַיֹּ֣אמְר֔וּ

grievous [is]

lə·miṣ·rā·yim;

לְמִצְרָ֑יִם

of it was called

Abel-mizraim

hay·yar·dên.

הַיַּרְדֵּֽן׃

way·ya·‘ă·śū

וַיַּעֲשׂ֥וּ

according as

he commanded

וַיִּשְׂא֨וּ

his sons him

into the land

way·yiq·bə·rū

וַיִּקְבְּר֣וּ

of the field

of Machpelah

ham·maḵ·pê·lāh;

הַמַּכְפֵּלָ֑ה

for a possession

la·’ă·ḥuz·zaṯ-

And returned

מִצְרַ֙יְמָה֙

and his brothers

way·yō·mə·rū,

וַיֹּ֣אמְר֔וּ

will show hate

יִשְׂטְמֵ֖נוּ

and will requite

certainly requite

And they sent a messenger

shall you say

of your brothers

and their sin

wə·ḥaṭ·ṭā·ṯām

וְחַטָּאתָם֙

of the servants

when they spoke

bə·ḏab·bə·rām

בְּדַבְּרָ֥ם

way·yê·lə·ḵū

his brothers

and fell down

way·yip·pə·lū

וַֽיִּפְּל֖וּ

before his face

and they said

way·yō·mə·rū,

וַיֹּ֣אמְר֔וּ

we [are] servants

la·‘ă·ḇā·ḏîm.

לַעֲבָדִֽים׃

in the place

But as for you

you intended

חֲשַׁבְתֶּ֥ם

to the end that

bring to pass

to save alive

lə·ha·ḥă·yōṯ

therefore Now

will nourish

your little ones

And he comforted

bə·miṣ·ra·yim,

בְּמִצְרַ֔יִם

and the house

of his father

lə·’ep̄·ra·yim,

לְאֶפְרַ֔יִם

of the third [generation]

שִׁלֵּשִׁ֑ים

the children

were brought up

his brothers

wə·he·‘ĕ·lāh

lə·’aḇ·rā·hām

לְאַבְרָהָ֥ם

and to Jacob

ū·lə·ya·‘ă·qōḇ.

וּֽלְיַעֲקֹֽב׃

And took an oath

וַיַּשְׁבַּ֣ע

of the children

and you shall carry up

wə·ha·‘ă·li·ṯem

וְהַעֲלִתֶ֥ם

of one hundred

and they embalmed

way·ya·ḥan·ṭū

וַיַּחַנְט֣וּ

and he was put

bə·miṣ·rā·yim.

בְּמִצְרָֽיִם׃
