And there went

from the house

[to wife] a daughter

And conceived

when she saw

[was] goodly

then she hid him

wat·tiṣ·pə·nê·hū

וַֽתִּצְפְּנֵ֖הוּ

when she could

haṣ·ṣə·p̄î·nōw

הַצְּפִינוֹ֒

wat·tiq·qaḥ-

וַתִּֽקַּֽח־

of bulrushes

wat·taḥ·mə·rāh

וַתַּחְמְרָ֥ה

and with pitch

ū·ḇaz·zā·p̄eṯ;

and she laid

[it] in the reeds

of the river

wat·tê·ṯaṣ·ṣaḇ

וַתֵּתַצַּ֥ב

at a distance

would happen

And came down

the daughter

to bathe [herself]

and her maidens

wə·na·‘ă·rō·ṯe·hā

וְנַעֲרֹתֶ֥יהָ

walked along

of the river

when she saw

then she sent

וַתִּשְׁלַ֥ח

And to fetch it

wat·tiq·qā·ḥe·hā

וַתִּקָּחֶֽהָ

when she had opened [it]

wat·tip̄·taḥ

וַתִּפְתַּח֙

wat·tir·’ê·hū

וַתִּרְאֵ֣הוּ

And she had compassion

of the Hebrews

הָֽעִבְרִ֖ים

This [is one]

the daughter

the Hebrew women

hā·‘iḇ·rî·yōṯ;

הָעִבְרִיֹּ֑ת

that she may nurse

the daughter

of the child

the daughter

wə·hê·ni·qi·hū

וְהֵינִקִ֣הוּ

wat·tə·nî·qê·hū.

וַתְּנִיקֵֽהוּ׃

and she brought him

wat·tə·ḇi·’ê·hū

וַתְּבִאֵ֙הוּ֙

unto the daughter

and he became

And she called

and she said

mə·šî·ṯi·hū.

מְשִׁיתִֽהוּ׃

And it came to pass

when was grown

וַיִּגְדַּ֤ל

that he went out

his brothers

on their burdens

bə·siḇ·lō·ṯām;

בְּסִבְלֹתָ֑ם

of his brothers

And he looked

[there was] man

the Egyptian

way·yiṭ·mə·nê·hū

וַֽיִּטְמְנֵ֖הוּ

when he went out

of the Hebrews

disputed together

to the offender

your companion

hal·hā·rə·ḡê·nî

הַלְהָרְגֵ֙נִי֙

the Egyptian

וַיִּשְׁמַ֤ע

then he sought

וַיְבַקֵּ֖שׁ

from the presence

and he sat down

Now the priest

and they came

wat·tā·ḇō·nāh

וַתָּבֹ֣אנָה

and drew [water]

wat·tiḏ·le·nāh,

וַתִּדְלֶ֗נָה

wat·tə·mal·le·nāh

וַתְּמַלֶּ֙אנָה֙

hā·rə·hā·ṭîm,

הָ֣רְהָטִ֔ים

lə·haš·qō·wṯ

לְהַשְׁק֖וֹת

of their father

way·yā·ḇō·’ū

the shepherds

and drove them away

way·ḡā·rə·šūm;

וַיְגָרְשׁ֑וּם

but stood up

and helped them

way·yō·wō·ši·‘ān,

וַיּ֣וֹשִׁעָ֔ן

when they came

wat·tā·ḇō·nāh

וַתָּבֹ֕אנָה

their father

How [is it that]

you have come

And they said

wat·tō·mar·nā

וַתֹּאמַ֕רְןָ

delivered us

hiṣ·ṣî·lā·nū

הִצִּילָ֖נוּ

out of the hand

of the shepherds

drew [water]

his daughters

And where [is he]

[that] you have left

that he may eat

And was content

way·yō·w·’el

his daughter

And she bore

and he called

nā·ḵə·rî·yāh.

נָכְרִיָּֽה׃

And it came to pass

in process of time

way·yê·’ā·nə·ḥū

וַיֵּאָנְח֧וּ

the children

by reason of

hā·‘ă·ḇō·ḏāh

and they cried

way·yiz·‘ā·qū;

וַיִּזְעָ֑קוּ

hā·’ĕ·lō·hîm

by reason of

hā·‘ă·ḇō·ḏāh.

וַיִּשְׁמַ֥ע

their groaning

na·’ă·qā·ṯām;

and remembered

וַיִּזְכֹּ֤ר

his covenant

on the children
