וַיַּצִּגֵ֖ם

his brothers

your occupation

ma·‘ă·śê·ḵem;

מַּעֲשֵׂיכֶ֑ם

And they said

way·yō·mə·rū

וַיֹּאמְר֣וּ

your servants

‘ă·ḇā·ḏe·ḵā,

’ă·ḇō·w·ṯê·nū.

אֲבוֹתֵֽינוּ׃

and they said

way·yō·mə·rū

וַיֹּאמְר֣וּ

for their flocks

your servants

la·‘ă·ḇā·ḏe·ḵā,

לַעֲבָדֶ֔יךָ

your servants

and your brothers

of Egypt [is]

before your face

lə·p̄ā·ne·ḵā

then make them

וְשַׂמְתָּ֛ם

of livestock

And brought in

way·ya·‘ă·mi·ḏê·hū

וַיַּֽעֲמִדֵ֖הוּ

have you lived

of the years

of my sojourning

[are] thirty

and a hundred

of the years

of the years

of my fathers

of their sojourning

mə·ḡū·rê·hem.

מְגוּרֵיהֶֽם׃

and went out

way·yō·wō·šêḇ

his brothers

a possession

had commanded

And nourished

וַיְכַלְכֵּ֤ל

his brothers

the household

of his father

[their] families

And [there was] bread

severe [was]

and the land

by reason of

of the famine

And gathered up

that was found

and in the land

for the grain

into the house

hak·ke·sep̄,

and in the land

way·yā·ḇō·’ū

the Egyptians

should we die

in your presence

your livestock

and I will give

wə·’et·tə·nāh

for your livestock

bə·miq·nê·ḵem;

בְּמִקְנֵיכֶ֑ם

And they brought

way·yā·ḇî·’ū

וַיָּבִ֣יאוּ

their livestock

in exchange for the horses

בַּסּוּסִ֗ים

and the livestock

ū·ḇə·miq·nêh

וּבְמִקְנֵ֥ה

for the flocks

and the livestock

ū·ḇə·miq·nêh

וּבְמִקְנֵ֥ה

and the donkeys

ū·ḇa·ḥă·mō·rîm;

וּבַחֲמֹרִ֑ים

and he fed them

way·na·hă·lêm

וַיְנַהֲלֵ֤ם

in exchange for all

their livestock

When was ended

and they came

way·yā·ḇō·’ū

way·yō·mə·rū

וַיֹּ֤אמְרוּ

from my lord

mê·’ă·ḏō·nî,

hak·ke·sep̄,

and our herds

of livestock

hab·bə·hê·māh

in the sight

gə·wî·yā·ṯê·nū

גְּוִיָּתֵ֖נוּ

and our lands

wə·’aḏ·mā·ṯê·nū.

וְאַדְמָתֵֽנוּ׃

shall we die

before your eyes

lə·‘ê·ne·ḵā,

’aḏ·mā·ṯê·nū,

אַדְמָתֵ֔נוּ

’aḏ·mā·ṯê·nū

אַדְמָתֵ֖נוּ

and our land

wə·’aḏ·mā·ṯê·nū

וְאַדְמָתֵ֙נוּ֙

lə·p̄ar·‘ōh,

and give [us]

that we may live

that the land

wə·hā·’ă·ḏā·māh

וְהָאֲדָמָ֖ה

may be desolate

lə·p̄ar·‘ōh,

the Egyptians

unto Pharaoh

lə·p̄ar·‘ōh.

as for the people

from one end

of the borders

the [other] end

of the priests

hak·kō·hă·nîm

הַכֹּהֲנִ֖ים

had [assigned] a portion

to the priests

lak·kō·hă·nîm

לַכֹּהֲנִ֜ים

and they did eat

their portion

I have bought

אַדְמַתְכֶ֖ם

lə·p̄ar·‘ōh;

[here is] seed

and you shall sow

ū·zə·ra‘·tem

וּזְרַעְתֶּ֖ם

hā·’ă·ḏā·māh.

And it shall come to pass

at the harvest

bat·tə·ḇū·’ōṯ,

בַּתְּבוּאֹ֔ת

that you shall give

ū·nə·ṯat·tem

lə·p̄ar·‘ōh;

of the field

for your food

ū·lə·’ā·ḵə·lə·ḵem

וּֽלְאָכְלְכֶ֛ם

and for them

wə·la·’ă·šer

of your households

bə·ḇāt·tê·ḵem

בְּבָתֵּיכֶ֖ם

and for food

wə·le·’ĕ·ḵōl

for your little ones

lə·ṭap·pə·ḵem.

לְטַפְּכֶֽם׃

And they said

way·yō·mə·rū

וַיֹּאמְר֖וּ

you have saved our lives

he·ḥĕ·yi·ṯā·nū;

הֶחֱיִתָ֑נוּ

in the sight

and we will be

lə·p̄ar·‘ōh.

[that] Pharaoh

[receive] the fifth

of the priests

hak·kō·hă·nîm

הַכֹּֽהֲנִים֙

lə·p̄ar·‘ōh.

in the country

and they had possessions

way·yê·’ā·ḥă·zū

וַיֵּאָחֲז֣וּ

and multiplied

וַיִּרְבּ֖וּ

the whole age

wə·’ar·bā·‘îm

וְאַרְבָּעִ֥ים

and a hundred

And drew near

way·yiq·rə·ḇū

וַיִּקְרְב֣וּ

and he called

וַיִּקְרָ֣א ׀

lə·yō·w·sêp̄,

I have found

in your sight

bə·‘ê·ne·ḵā,

בְּעֵינֶ֔יךָ

ṯiq·bə·rê·nî

תִקְבְּרֵ֖נִי

bə·miṣ·rā·yim.

בְּמִצְרָֽיִם׃

But I will lie

wə·šā·ḵaḇ·tî

וְשָֽׁכַבְתִּי֙

and you shall carry me

ū·nə·śā·ṯa·nî

וּנְשָׂאתַ֙נִי֙

out of Egypt

mim·miṣ·ra·yim,

מִמִּצְרַ֔יִם

ū·qə·ḇar·ta·nî

וּקְבַרְתַּ֖נִי

in their burial place

biq·ḇu·rā·ṯām;

בִּקְבֻרָתָ֑ם

as you have said

ḵiḏ·ḇā·re·ḵā.

כִדְבָרֶֽךָ׃

hiš·šā·ḇə·‘āh

הִשָּֽׁבְעָה֙

And he swore

way·yiš·šā·ḇa‘

וַיִּשָּׁבַ֖ע

and bowed himself

way·yiš·ta·ḥū

וַיִּשְׁתַּ֥חוּ

ham·miṭ·ṭāh.
