wə·hā·lə·ḵāh

wə·hā·yə·ṯāh

shall he return

have played the harlot

and yet return

again unto me

the high places

[שֻׁגַּלְתְּ

have you not been violated

(šuk·kab·bət,

(שֻׁכַּ֔בְּתְּ

have you sat

for them Like an Arab

in the wilderness

bam·miḏ·bār;

בַּמִּדְבָּ֑ר

and you have polluted

wat·ta·ḥă·nî·p̄î

וַתַּחֲנִ֣יפִי

with your prostitutions

biz·nū·ṯa·yiḵ

בִּזְנוּתַ֖יִךְ

and with your wickedness

ū·ḇə·rā·‘ā·ṯêḵ.

וּבְרָעָתֵֽךְ׃

and have been withheld

way·yim·mā·nə·‘ū

וַיִּמָּנְע֣וּ

Therefore the showers

and latter rain

ū·mal·qō·wōš

וּמַלְק֖וֹשׁ

do there has been

and forehead

commit fornication

to be ashamed

will you not

from this time

lə·‘ō·w·lām,

will he keep

[דִבַּרְתִּי

(דִבַּ֛רְתְּ

wat·ta·‘ă·śî

וַתַּעֲשִׂ֥י

and as you could

to me in the days

יֹאשִׁיָּ֣הוּ

have you seen

הֲ‍ֽרָאִ֔יתָ

[that] backsliding

and has played the harlot

she had done

[things] Turn

do she returned

committed adultery

of faithless

I had put her away

šil·laḥ·tî·hā

שִׁלַּחְתִּ֕יהָ

kə·rî·ṯu·ṯe·hā

כְּרִיתֻתֶ֖יהָ

yet her treacherous

’ă·ḥō·w·ṯāh,

and played the harlot

And it came to pass

through the lightness

of her prostitution

that she defiled

wat·te·ḥĕ·nap̄

and committed adultery

wat·tin·’ap̄

in spite of all

in deception

has justified

more than treacherous

mib·bō·ḡê·ḏāh

and proclaim

had·də·ḇā·rîm

הַדְּבָרִ֨ים

toward the north

ṣā·p̄ō·w·nāh,

wə·’ā·mar·tā

וְ֠אָמַרְתָּ

cause my anger

[am] merciful

[anger] forever

lə·‘ō·w·lām.

your iniquity

against the LORD

’ĕ·lō·ha·yiḵ

that you have transgressed

פָּשָׁ֑עַתְּ

and have scattered

wat·tə·p̄az·zə·rî

וַתְּפַזְּרִ֨י

də·rā·ḵa·yiḵ

דְּרָכַ֜יִךְ

to the strangers

and my voice

ū·ḇə·qō·w·lî

שְׁמַעְתֶּ֖ם

O backsliding

For I am a master

בָּעַ֣לְתִּי

and I will take

wə·lā·qaḥ·tî

וְלָקַחְתִּ֨י

וּשְׁנַ֙יִם֙

from a family

mim·miš·pā·ḥāh,

מִמִּשְׁפָּחָ֔ה

and I will bring

And I will give

wə·nā·ṯat·tî

according to my heart

and that shall feed

with knowledge

and understanding

וְהַשְׂכֵּֽיל׃

and it shall come to pass

you be multiplied

and increased

ū·p̄ə·rî·ṯem

shall they say

of the covenant

shall it come

shall they remember

shall they visit

[that] shall be done

At that time

they shall call

lî·rū·šā·lim

לִירוּשָׁלִַ֙ם֙

and shall be gathered

hag·gō·w·yim

for the name

to Jerusalem

lî·rū·šā·lim;

לִירוּשָׁלִָ֑ם

shall they walk

the imagination

of their evil

and they shall come

from the land

of the north

I have given for an inheritance

הִנְחַ֖לְתִּי

to your fathers

’ă·ḇō·w·ṯê·ḵem.

אֲבוֹתֵיכֶֽם׃

shall I put you

among the children

of the hosts

And I said me

[תִּקְרְאוּ־

(תִּקְרְאִי־

you shall call

ū·mê·’a·ḥă·ray

וּמֵאַחֲרַ֖י

(תָשֽׁוּבִי׃

treacherously

departs from her husband

have you dealt treacherously

בְּגַדְתֶּ֥ם

the high places

supplications

they have perverted

They have forgotten

’ĕ·lō·hê·hem.

אֱלֹהֵיהֶֽם׃

children you

šō·w·ḇā·ḇîm,

your backslidings

mə·šū·ḇō·ṯê·ḵem;

מְשׁוּבֹֽתֵיכֶ֑ם

[are] the LORD

’ĕ·lō·hê·nū.

אֱלֹהֵֽינוּ׃

[is salvation hoped for] from the hills

mig·gə·ḇā·‘ō·wṯ

מִגְּבָע֖וֹת

[and from] the multitude

of mountains

’ĕ·lō·hê·nū,

[is] the salvation

יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃

wə·hab·bō·šeṯ,

וְהַבֹּ֗שֶׁת

has devoured

of our fathers

’ă·ḇō·w·ṯê·nū

אֲבוֹתֵ֖ינוּ

from our youth

min·nə·‘ū·rê·nū;

מִנְּעוּרֵ֑ינוּ

their flocks

their daughers

bə·nō·w·ṯê·hem.

בְּנוֹתֵיהֶֽם׃

נִשְׁכְּבָ֣ה

in our shame

bə·ḇā·šə·tê·nū,

בְּבָשְׁתֵּ֗נוּ

ū·ṯə·ḵas·sê·nū

וּֽתְכַסֵּנוּ֮

our confusion

kə·lim·mā·ṯê·nū

כְּלִמָּתֵנוּ֒

against the LORD

we have sinned

and our fathers

wa·’ă·ḇō·w·ṯê·nū,

וַאֲבוֹתֵ֔ינוּ

from our youth

min·nə·‘ū·rê·nū

מִנְּעוּרֵ֖ינוּ

’ĕ·lō·hê·nū.

אֱלֹהֵֽינוּ׃
