yit·tə·nê·nî

in the wilderness

ḇam·miḏ·bār,

בַמִּדְבָּ֗ר

a lodging place

of wayfaring men

that I might leave

wə·’e·‘ez·ḇāh

וְאֶֽעֶזְבָה֙

wə·’ê·lə·ḵāh

from them ! For all

of them are adulterers

mə·nā·’ă·p̄îm,

מְנָ֣אֲפִ֔ים

of treacherous

And they bend

way·yaḏ·rə·ḵū

וַֽיַּדְרְכ֤וּ

their tongues

[like] their bow

for the truth

le·’ĕ·mū·nāh

for they proceed

do they know me

of his neighbor

Take you heed

hiš·šā·mê·rū,

הִשָּׁמֵ֔רוּ

will utterly

with slanders

and every one

his neighbor

בְּרֵעֵ֙הוּ֙

they will deceive

yə·hā·ṯêl·lū,

and the truth

yə·ḏab·bê·rū;

they have taught

their tongue

to commit iniquity

weary themselves

your dwelling place

[is] in the middle

through deceit

ṣə·ḇā·’ō·wṯ,

I will melt them

and try them

ū·ḇə·ḥan·tîm;

וּבְחַנְתִּ֑ים

of the daughter

of My people

[is as] an arrow

Their tongue

With his mouth

his neighbor

[one] speaks

but in heart

ū·ḇə·qir·bōw

וּבְקִרְבּ֖וֹ

[things] said

do be avenged

the mountains

will I take up

the dwelling places

of the wilderness

a lamentation

they are burned up

can pass through

[men] can hear

of the livestock

both the birds

of the heavens

haš·šā·ma·yim

הַשָּׁמַ֙יִם֙

they are gone

And I will make

wə·nā·ṯat·tî

yə·rū·šā·lim

יְרוּשָׁלִַ֛ם

an inhabitant

that may understand

And [who is] he to whom

[who is he] whom the mouth

that he may declare it

wə·yag·gi·ḏāh;

וְיַגִּדָ֑הּ

is burned up

like a wilderness

כַמִּדְבָּ֖ר

passes through

they have forsaken

lip̄·nê·hem;

But have walked

way·yê·lə·ḵū,

וַיֵּ֣לְכ֔וּ

the imagination

of their heart

hab·bə·‘ā·lîm,

הַבְּעָלִ֔ים

their fathers

’ă·ḇō·w·ṯām.

ma·’ă·ḵî·lām

[even] people them

with wormwood

and to drink

wə·hiš·qî·ṯîm

וְהִשְׁקִיתִ֖ים

give them water

and I will scatter them

wa·hă·p̄i·ṣō·w·ṯîm

וַהֲפִֽצוֹתִים֙

also among the nations

bag·gō·w·yim,

and nor their fathers

wa·’ă·ḇō·w·ṯām;

וַֽאֲבוֹתָ֑ם

and I will send

wə·šil·laḥ·tî

וְשִׁלַּחְתִּ֤י

’a·ḥă·rê·hem

אַֽחֲרֵיהֶם֙

a sword them

I have consumed

ṣə·ḇā·’ō·wṯ,

hiṯ·bō·wn·nū

הִתְבּֽוֹנְנ֛וּ

you and call

for the mourning

lam·qō·wn·nō·wṯ

לַמְקוֹנְנ֖וֹת

that they may come

ū·ṯə·ḇō·w·’e·nāh;

וּתְבוֹאֶ֑ינָה

ha·ḥă·ḵā·mō·wṯ

And [women] that they may come

wə·ṯā·ḇō·w·nāh.

וְתָבֽוֹאנָה׃

and let them make haste

ū·ṯə·ma·hê·rə·nāh

וּתְמַהֵ֕רְנָה

wə·ṯiś·śe·nāh

וְתִשֶּׂ֥נָה

that may run down us

wə·ṯê·raḏ·nāh

וְתֵרַ֤דְנָה

and our eyelids

wə·‘ap̄·‘ap·pê·nū

וְעַפְעַפֵּ֖ינוּ

miṣ·ṣî·yō·wn

are we spoiled

šud·dā·ḏə·nū;

שֻׁדָּ֑דְנוּ

we have forsaken

[us] have cast out

הִשְׁלִ֖יכוּ

our dwellings

miš·kə·nō·w·ṯê·nū.

מִשְׁכְּנוֹתֵֽינוּ׃

let your ear

’ā·zə·nə·ḵem

of his mouth

wə·lam·mê·ḏə·nāh

וְלַמֵּ֤דְנָה

your daughers

ḇə·nō·w·ṯê·ḵem

בְנֽוֹתֵיכֶם֙

and every one her

into our windows

bə·ḥal·lō·w·nê·nū,

בְּחַלּוֹנֵ֔ינוּ

into our palaces

bə·’ar·mə·nō·w·ṯê·nū;

בְּאַרְמְנוֹתֵ֑ינוּ

the children

from the streets

the young men

from the town

mê·rə·ḥō·ḇō·wṯ.

מֵרְחֹבֽוֹת׃

and shall fall

wə·nā·p̄ə·lāh

Even the carcasses

and as the handful

the harvest man

shall gather

mə·’as·sêp̄.

do let [man] glory

of his wisdom

bə·ḥā·ḵə·mā·ṯōw,

בְּחָכְמָת֔וֹ

let the mighty

hag·gib·bō·wr

of his might

biḡ·ḇū·rā·ṯōw;

בִּגְבֽוּרָת֑וֹ

do let [man] glory

of his riches me

bə·‘ā·šə·rōw.

בְּעָשְׁרֽוֹ׃

let him who glories

ham·miṯ·hal·lêl,

הַמִּתְהַלֵּ֗ל

that he understands

that exercise

covenant loyalty

and righteousness

[things] I delight

that I will punish

ū·p̄ā·qaḏ·tî,

וּפָ֣קַדְתִּ֔י

[them that are] circumcised

with the uncircumcised

bə·‘ā·rə·lāh.

בְּעָרְלָֽה׃

the children

[that are] in the utmost

hay·yō·šə·ḇîm

הַיֹּשְׁבִ֖ים

in the wilderness

bam·miḏ·bār;

בַּמִּדְבָּ֑ר

[these] nations [are]

hag·gō·w·yim

uncircumcised

of Israel [are]

uncircumcised
