εἰσδέχομαι,
1. Ion. ἐσδέκ-, take into, admit, ἐς τὸ ἱρόν Hdt. 1.144, cf. 206: c. acc. pers., S. OT 238; εἰ. φρουράν IG 22.43.22: c. acc. loc., οὐκ εἰσεδέξατ' οἶκον E. Supp. 876: c. dat., ἄντροις εἰ. τινά receive him in the cave, Id. Cyc. 35: rarely c. gen., τόνδ' εἰσεδέξω τειχέων, = τειχέων εἴσω ἐδέξω (cf. Sch. ad loc.), E. Ph. 451: c. acc. dupl., ἐσδέξασθαί τινα συνοικιστῆρα admit him as a fellow-colonist, Pi. Fr. 186; εἰ. τινά ὑπόστεγον S. Tr. 376: aor. I εἰσδεχθῆναι in pass. sense, Luc. Tox. 30, Merc.Cond. 10.

Syll 330.21 (Roman Age) εἰσδεδεγμένοι τέ εἰσιν εἰς τὰν τᾶς πόλεως χάριν, OGIS 515.36 (iii/A.D.) τὰς δὲ τοιαύτας προσανγελίας εἰσδέ [χεσθαι τὸν γραμματέα. The verb was used technically in connexion with the ";receiving"; or ";storing"; of wheat in the θησαυρός, e.g. P Lille I. 13.3 (B.C. 244–3) : for the corresponding subst. εἰσδοχή see P Tebt I. 123.4 al. (early i/B.C.), ib. 159 (B.C. 112), P Fay 86.1 (ii/A.D.).
