The form κέλευσμα for the more ancient κέλευμα (cf. Crönert Mem. Herc. p. 227 n..5) is found in 1 Thessalonians 4:16, the only occurrence of the word in the NT (in LXX only Pro. 24:62 [MT Proverbs 30:27]) : see further for the usage of the word Milligan Thess. ad l., where reference is made to a passage cited by Reitzenstein (Poimandres P. 5 n..3) from the Descensus Mariae in which the Archangel Michael is described as τὸ κέλευσμα τοῦ ἁγίου πνεύματος. The nouns κέλευσις and ἐγκέλευσις are common, e.g. BGU I. 286.9 (A.D. 306) κατὰ κέλευσιν τῆς ἡγεμονίας, P Tebt II. 338.11 (A.D. 194–6) ἐ ]ξ ἐν [κε ]λεύσεως τοῦ κρα [τίστο ]υ ἐπιστρατήγου : for κελευστής, see P Lond 977.36 (A.D. 330) (=111. p. 232).
