With the use of this word to denote the Jewish Feast of ";Pentecost"; we are not at present concerned. It may be noted, however, that in the ostraca πεντηκοστή is a 2% tax : see Wilcken Ostr. i. pp. 276 ff., 343 f., and the note ad OGIS 46.12 (B.C. 285–247) τοὺς ὑποτεθέντας εἰς τὰς εἰκόνας, τὴν πεντηκόστην καὶ τὸ γραφίον τῶν ὅρκων.
