Plu. 2.36 3b; μετὰ παρατηρήσεως so that it can be observed, Luke 17:20 : in bad sense, close observation, to detect faults, etc., Plb. 16.22.8; ἐνέδρα καὶ π. Plu. 2.266b; empirical observation, opp. λογισμός, Gal. 1.127; so κατὰ ἱστορίαν ἢ π. Phld. Rh. 1.40 S.
