גּוּפָה f. a body, corpse, so called from the idea of being hollow, 1 Chronicles 10:12, for גְּוִיָּה in the parallel place, 1 Samuel 31:12. Arab. جَوْفُ cavity, belly, جِيفَةُ corpse. Rabbin. גּוּף body, person.
