Gesenius' Hebrew and Chaldee Definition
חָבַק in Kal only occurring three times, inf. חֲבֹק Ecclesiastes 3:5, part. חֹבֵק Ecclesiastes 4:5; 2 Kings 4:16, elsewhere only in Piel.
Piel חִבֵּק fut. יְחַבֵּק part. מְחַבֵּק
(1) to embrace, followed by an acc. Genesis 33:4; Proverbs 4:8, 5:20 followed by a dat. Genesis 29:13, 48:10. To embrace the rock, the dunghill, for to lie, or make one’s bed, on them, Job 24:8; Lamentations 4:5.
(2) with the addition of יָדַיִם to fold the hands (spoken of an idle man), Ecclesiastes 4:5. Hence
