Gesenius' Hebrew and Chaldee Definition

יוֹנֵק m. Isaiah 53:2, and יוֹנֶקֶת f. properly sucking, figuratively a sucker of a tree, as if it sucked nourishment from a mother. Job 8:16, 14:7 15:30 Ezekiel 17:22; Hosea 14:7. By a similar figure applied from animals to plants, a sucker is called in Greek μόσχος, and pullulare is used of plants.
