סָלַח fut. יִסְלַח to pardon, forgive; followed by a dat., Exodus 34:9; 1 Kings 8:34, 36 1 Kings 8:36, 39 1 Kings 8:39. (Chald. Zab. id.; Eth. with the letters transposed, ተሠሀለ፡ to be merciful, propitious, to pardon; comp. Arab. سهل to shew oneself gentle. The primary idea seems to be that of lightness, lifting up; compare סָלָא, סָלָה).
Niphal, to be forgiven (used of sin), Leviticus 4:20, 26, 31 5:10, 13. Hence
