 סָתַם verb stop up, shut up, keep close (Late Hebrew id.; ᵑ7סְתַם id.; Syriac ( very rare); Arabic close door Lane1334, and Kam Frey, are perhaps loan-words); ** compare Assyrian bit sutummu, storehouse, treasury, Zehnpf BAS i. 531. —

Qal Perfect 3 masculine singular ׳ס 2 Chronicles 32:30; Imperfect 2 masculine plural תִּסְתֹּ֑מוּ 2 Kings 3:19; 3 masculine plural יִסְתֹּ֑מוּ 2 Kings 3:25, וַיִּסְתְּמוּ 2 Chronicles 32:4; Imperative masculine singular סְתֹם Daniel 8:26; Daniel 12:4; Infinitive construct לִסְתּוֺם 2 Chronicles 32:3; Passive participle סָתוּם Ezekiel 28:3, סָתֻם Psalm 51:8, plural סְתֻמִים Daniel 12:9; —

שָׂתַם i.q. סָתַם to stop, to obstruct. Lamentations 3:9, שָׂתַם תְּפִלָּתִי “he obstructeth my prayers,” that they do not come to God. Comp. Lamentations 3:44.
