collect, gather together, esp. rally scattered troops, τῆς στρατιῆς τοὺς περιγενομένους Hdt. 5.46; τὸ στράτευμα X. Cyr. 3.3.1; τὰς δυνάμεις Pl. Grg. 456a; ς. θοινάτορας E. Ion 1217.

2. take with one, carry off, S. Tr. 1153; ξυλλαβὼν κατέκλινεν αὐτὸν εἰς Ἀσκληπιοῦ Ar. V. 122, cf. AP 5.52 (tm., Diosc.); συλλαβὼν θεσπίσματα κεῖται παρ' Ἅιδῃ with all his prophecies, S. 1. Active,

a. to seize, take: τινα, one as a prisoner, Matthew 26:55; Mark 14:48; Luke 22:54; John 18:12 (cf. Winer's Grammar, 275 (259)); Acts 1:16; Acts 12:3; Acts 23:27; ἀργαν ἰχθύων, Luke 5:9.
