I gave you absolutely nothing to eatin all your cities,a shortage of food in all your communities,yet you did not return to me.

Two or three cities staggeredto another city to drink waterbut were not satisfied,yet you did not return to me.

I struck you with blight and mildew;the locust devouredyour many gardens and vineyards,your fig trees and olive trees,yet you did not return to me.

I sent plagues like those of Egypt;I killed your young men with the sword,along with your captured horses.I caused the stench of your campto fill your nostrils,yet you did not return to me.

I overthrew some of youas I overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah,and you were like a burning sticksnatched from a fire,yet you did not return to me—

Do horses gallop on the cliffs?Does anyone plow there with oxen?Yet you have turned justice into poisonand the fruit of righteousness into wormwood—

But I said, “I have been banishedfrom your sight,yet I will look once moretoward your holy temple.

Yet she became an exile;she went into captivity.Her children were also dashed to piecesat the head of every street.They cast lots for her dignitaries,and all her nobles were bound in chains.

For the vision is yet for the appointed time;it testifies about the end and will not lie.Though it delays, wait for it,since it will certainly come and not be late.

Woe to him who says to wood: Wake up!or to mute stone: Come alive!Can it teach?Look! It may be plated with gold and silver,yet there is no breath in it at all.

yet I will celebrate in the Lord;I will rejoice in the God of my salvation!

The righteous Lord is in her;he does no wrong.He applies his justice morning by morning;he does not fail at dawn,yet the one who does wrong knows no shame.

Is there still seed left in the granary? The vine, the fig, the pomegranate, and the olive tree have not yet produced. But from this day on I will bless you.”

The Lord of Armies says this: “Peoples will yet come, the residents of many cities;

“Will a man rob God? Yet you are robbing me!”

You are suffering under a curse, yet you—the whole nation—are still robbing me.

But John tried to stop him, saying, “I need to be baptized by you, and yet you come to me?”

Consider the birds of the sky: They don’t sow or reap or gather into barns, yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Aren’t you worth more than they?
