Yet he sets the needy on high from affliction, And makes [him] families like a flock.

The proud have had me greatly in derision: [Yet] I have not swerved from your law.

For I have become like a wine-skin in the smoke; Yet I don't forget your statutes.

My soul is continually in my hand; Yet I don't forget your law.

The wicked have laid a snare for me; Yet I have not gone astray from your precepts.

I am small and despised; [Yet] I don't forget your precepts.

Trouble and anguish have taken hold on me; [Yet] your commandments are my delight.

Many are my persecutors and my adversaries; [Yet] I have not swerved from your testimonies.

Many a time they have afflicted me from my youth up: Yet they have not prevailed against me.

For though Yahweh is high, yet he has respect to the lowly; But the haughty he knows from afar.

Your eyes saw me developing from conception; And in your book they were all written, [Even] the days that were formed [for me], When as yet there was none of them.

[Yet] a little sleep, a little slumber, A little folding of the hands to sleep:

While as yet he had not made the earth, nor the fields, Nor the beginning of the dust of the world.

Give [instruction] to a wise man, and he will be yet wiser: Teach a righteous man, and he will increase in learning.

There is one who scatters, and increases yet more; And there is one who withholds more than is meet, but [tends] only to want.

There is one who makes himself rich, yet has nothing: There is one who makes himself poor, yet has great wealth.

A man of great wrath shall bear the penalty; For if you deliver [him], you must do it yet again.

They have stricken me, [you shall say], and I was not hurt; They have beaten me, and I did not feel it: When shall I awake? I will seek it yet again.

[Yet] a little sleep, a little slumber, A little folding of the hands to sleep;

Though you should bray a fool in a mortar with a pestle along with bruised grain, Yet his foolishness will not depart from him.
