Jesus replied to him, "If I have spoken wrongly, testify about what is wrong! But if I have spoken correctly, why do you strike me?"

Then they brought Jesus from Caiaphas to the governor's residence. Now it was early, and they did not enter into the governor's residence so that they would not be defiled, but could eat the Passover.

Jesus replied, "My kingdom is not of this world. If my kingdom were of this world, my servants would be fighting so that I would not be handed over to the Jews. But now my kingdom is not from here."

But it is your custom that I release for you one prisoner at the Passover. So do you want me to release for you the king of the Jews?"

Then they shouted again, saying, "Not this man, but Barabbas!" (Now Barabbas was a revolutionary.)

and he entered into the governor's residence again and said to Jesus, "Where are you from?" But Jesus did not give him an answer.

From this point on Pilate was seeking to release him, but the Jews shouted, saying, "If you release this man, you are not a friend of Caesar! Everyone who makes himself out to be a king opposes Caesar!"

So Pilate, when he heard these words, brought Jesus outside and sat down on the judgment seat, in the place called The Stone Pavement (but Gabbatha in Aramaic).

Then the chief priests of the Jews said to Pilate, "Do not write ‘The king of the Jews,' but, ‘He said, I am king of the Jews.'"

So they said to one another, "Let us not tear it apart, but cast lots for it, to see whose it will be," so that the scripture would be fulfilled that says, "They divided my garments among themselves, and for my clothing they cast lots." Thus the soldiers did these things.

But when they came to Jesus, after they saw he was already dead, they did not break his legs.

But one of the soldiers pierced his side with a spear, and blood and water came out immediately.

And after these things, Joseph who was from Arimathea, who was a disciple of Jesus (but a secret one for fear of the Jews), asked Pilate that he might take away the body of Jesus. And Pilate allowed it, so he came and took away his body.

and the facecloth that was on his head—not lying with the strips of linen cloth, but folded up separately in one place.

But Mary stood outside at the tomb, weeping. Then, while she was weeping, she bent over to look into the tomb,

Jesus said to her, "Do not touch me, for I have not yet ascended to the Father. But go to my brothers and tell them, ‘I am ascending to my Father and your Father, and my God and your God.'"

So the other disciples said to him, "We have seen the Lord!" But he said to them, "Unless I see in his hands the mark of the nails, and put my finger into the mark of the nails, and put my hand into his side, I will never believe!"

Then he said to Thomas, "Place your finger here and see my hands, and place your hand and put it into my side. And do not be unbelieving, but believing!"

but these things are recorded in order that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name.

But the other disciples came in the boat, dragging the net of fish, because they were not far from the land, but about two hundred cubits away.
