He himself was not the Light, but he came to testify about the Light.

But to all who did receive Him, to those who believed in His name, He gave the right to become children of God-

children born not of blood, nor of the desire or will of man, but born of God.

No one has ever seen God, but the one and only Son, who is Himself God and is at the Father's side, has made Him known.

He did not refuse to confess, but openly declared, "I am not the Christ."

"I baptize with water," John replied, "but among you stands One you do not know.

I myself did not know Him, but the reason I came baptizing with water was that He might be revealed to Israel."

I myself did not know Him, but the One who sent me to baptize with water told me, 'The man on whom you see the Spirit descend and rest is He who will baptize with the Holy Spirit.'

and the master of the banquet tasted the water that had been turned into wine. He did not know where it was from, but the servants who had drawn the water knew. Then he called the bridegroom aside

and said, "Everyone serves the fine wine first, and then the cheap wine after the guests are drunk. But you have saved the fine wine until now!"

But Jesus was speaking about the temple of His body.

But Jesus did not entrust Himself to them, for He knew all men.

Flesh is born of flesh, but spirit is born of the Spirit.

The wind blows where it wishes. You hear its sound, but you do not know where it comes from or where it is going. So it is with everyone born of the Spirit."

For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that everyone who believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.

For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through Him.

Whoever believes in Him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe has already been condemned, because he has not believed in the name of God's one and only Son.

And this is the verdict: The Light has come into the world, but men loved the darkness rather than the Light, because their deeds were evil.

But whoever practices the truth comes into the Light, so that it may be seen clearly that what he has done has been accomplished in God."

You yourselves can testify that I said, 'I am not the Christ, but am sent ahead of Him.'
