For they heard them speaking in tongues and praising God. Then Peter said,

Now the apostles and the brothers who were in Judea heard that the Gentiles had also accepted the word of God.

Then the voice from heaven answered a second time, 'You must stop calling common what God has made clean!'

Now if God gave them the same gift that he gave us when we believed in the Lord Jesus Christ, who was I to try to stop God?"Acts 10:47; 15:8-9;">[xr]

When they heard this, they quieted down, and praised God, saying, "So God has given even the Gentiles the repentance that leads to life."Romans 10:12-13;">[xr]

When he arrived, he rejoiced to see what the grace of God had done,to see the grace of God">[fn] and with a hearty determination he continuously encouraged them all to remain faithful to the Lord.Acts 13:43; 14:22;">[xr]

So Peter was being kept in prison, but earnest prayer to God for him was being offered by the church.

The people kept shouting, "This is the voice of a god, not of a man!"

Immediately the angel of the Lord struck him down because he did not give glory to God, and he was eaten by worms and died.1 Samuel 25:38; 2 Samuel 24:17; Psalm 115:1;">[xr]

But the word of God continued to grow and spread.Isaiah 55:11; Acts 6:7; 19:20; Colossians 1:6;">[xr]

He was associated with the proconsul Sergius Paulus, who was an intelligent man. He sent for Barnabas and Saul because he wanted to hear the word of God.

Then Paul stood up, motioned with his hand, and said: "Men of Israel and you who fear God, listen!Acts 10:35;">[xr]

The God of this people Israel chose our ancestors and made them a great people during their stay in the land of Egypt, and with an uplifted arm he led them out of it.Exodus 1:1; 6:6; Deuteronomy 7:6-7; Psalm 105:23-24; Acts 7:17;">[xr]

"Then they demanded a king, and for forty years God gave them Saul, the son of Kish, a man of the tribe of Benjamin.1 Samuel 8:5; 10:1;">[xr]

But God raised him from the dead,Matthew 28:6; Acts 2:24; 5:30;">[xr]
