For as I was walking around and looking closely at the objects you worship, I even found an altar with this written on it: 'To an unknown god.' So I am telling you about the unknown object you worship.

The God who made the world and everything in it is the Lord of heaven and earth. He doesn't live in shrines made by human hands,Matthew 11:25; Acts 7:48; 14:15;">[xr]

so that they might look for God,for the Lord">[fn] somehow reach for him, and find him. Of course, he is never far from any one of us.Acts 14:17; Romans 1:20;">[xr]

Though God has overlooked those times of ignorance, he now commands everyone everywhere to repent,Luke 24:47; Acts 14:16; Romans 3:25; Titus 2:11-12; 1 Peter 1:14; 4:3;">[xr]

Then he left that place and went to the home of a man named TitiusTitus">[fn] Justus, who worshiped God and whose house was next door to the synagogue.

So he lived there for a year and a half and continued to teach the word of God among them.

They said, "This man is persuading people to worship God in ways that are contrary to the law."

God continued to do extraordinary miracles by Paul's hands.Mark 16:20; Acts 14:3;">[xr]

I testified to both Jews and Greeks about repentance toward God and faith toward our Lord Jesus.Lord Jesus Christ">[fn]Mark 1:15; Luke 24:47; Acts 2:38; 18:5;">[xr]

"I am now entrusting you to God and to the message of his grace, which is able to build you up and give you an inheritance among all who are sanctified.Acts 9:31; 26:18; Ephesians 1:18; Colossians 1:12; 3:24; Hebrews 9:15; 13:9; 1 Peter 1:4;">[xr]

After greeting them, Paulhe">[fn] related one by one the things that God had done among the Gentiles through his ministry.Acts 1:17; 20:24; Romans 15:18-19;">[xr]

When they heard about it, they praised God and told him, "You see, brother, how many thousands of believers there are among the Jews, and all of them are zealous for the law.Acts 22:3; Romans 10:2; Galatians 1:14;">[xr]

"I am a Jew, born in Tarsus in Cilicia but raised in this city and educated at the feet of Gamaliel in the strict ways of our ancestral law. I am as zealous for God as all of you are today.Deuteronomy 33:3; 2 Kings 4:38; Luke 10:39; Acts 5:34; 26:5; Romans 10:2; 2 Corinthians 11:22; Galatians 1:14; Philippians 3:5;">[xr]

Then he said, 'The God of our ancestors has chosen you to know his will, to see the Righteous One, and to hear his own voice,the voice of his mouth">[fn]Acts 3:13-14; 5:30; 7:52; 9:15; 26:16; 1 Corinthians 9:1; 11:23; 15:8; Galatians 1:12;">[xr]

Paul looked straight at the CouncilSanhedrin">[fn] and said, "Brothers, with a clear conscience I have done my duty before God up to this very day."Acts 24:16; 1 Corinthians 4:4; 2 Corinthians 1:12; 4:2; 2 Timothy 1:3; Hebrews 13:18;">[xr]

At this Paul said to him, "God will strike you, you whitewashed wall![fn] How can you sit there and judge me according to the law and yet in violation of the law order me to be struck?"Leviticus 19:35; Deuteronomy 25:1-2; John 7:51;">[xr]

However, I admit to you that in accordance with the Way, which they call a heresy,sect">[fn] I worship the God of our ancestors and believe in everything written in the Law and the Prophets.Amos 8:14; Acts 9:2; 23:6; 26:22; 2 Timothy 1:3;">[xr]

I have the same hope in God that they themselves cherish - that there is to be a resurrection of the righteous and the wicked.Daniel 12:2; John 5:28-29; Acts 26:6-7;">[xr]

Therefore, I always do my best to have a clear conscience in the sight of God and people.Acts 23:1;">[xr]
