But He, being compassionate, atoned for their iniquity and did not destroy them;And He abounded in turning back His angerAnd did not arouse all His wrath.

He leveled a path for His anger;He did not hold back their soul from death,But gave over their life to the plague,

He also drove out the nations before themAnd apportioned them for an inheritance by measurement,And made the tribes of Israel dwell in their tents.

For they provoked Him with their high placesAnd aroused His jealousy with their graven images.

They have given the dead bodies of Your slaves for food to the birds of the heavens,The flesh of Your holy ones to the beasts of the earth.

For they have devoured JacobAnd laid waste his abode.

Do not remember our former iniquities against us;Let Your compassion quickly approach us,For we are brought very low.

Help us, O God of our salvation, for the glory of Your name;And deliver us and atone for our sins for Your name's sake.

Why should the nations say, "Where is their God?"Let it be known among the nations before our eyes:Vengeance for the blood of Your slaves which has been poured out.

But as for us, as Your people and the sheep of Your pasture,We will give thanks to You forever;From generation to generation we will recount Your praise.

Even the sapling which Your right hand has planted,And on the son whom You have strengthened for Yourself.

Let Your hand be upon the man of Your right hand,Upon the son of man whom You made strong for Yourself.

Sing for joy to God our strength;Make a loud shout to the God of Jacob.

For it is a statute for Israel,A judgment of the God of Jacob.

He established it for a testimony in JosephWhen he went forth over the land of Egypt.I heard a language that I did not know:

Arise, O God, judge the earth!For it is You who will inherit all the nations.

For behold, Your enemies roar,And those who hate You have lifted up their heads.

For they have conspired together with one heart;Against You they cut a covenant:

Who were destroyed at En‑dor,Who were as dung for the ground.

Who said, "Let us possess for ourselvesThe pastures of God."
