Wisdom is too high for a fool: He does not open his mouth in the gate.

My son, eat honey, for it is good; And the droppings of the honeycomb, which are sweet to your taste:

For a righteous man falls seven times, and rises up again; But the wicked are overthrown by calamity.

For there shall be no reward to the evil man; The lamp of the wicked shall be put out.

For their calamity shall rise suddenly; And the destruction from them both, who knows it?

Prepare your work outside, And make it ready for yourself in the field; And afterward build your house.

As the heavens for height, and the earth for depth, So the heart of kings is unsearchable.

Take away the dross from the silver, And there comes forth a vessel for the refiner:

For it is better that it is said to you, Come up here, Than that you should be put lower in the presence of the prince, Whom your eyes have seen.

As the cold of snow in the time of harvest, [So is] a faithful messenger to those that send him; For he refreshes the soul of his masters.

Have you found honey? eat so much as is sufficient for you, Or else you will be filled therewith, and vomit it.

[As] vinegar on lye, and [as] smoke for the eyes, So is he that sings songs to a heavy heart.

For you will heap coals of fire on his head, And Yahweh will reward you.

As snow in summer, and as rain in harvest, So honor is not seemly for a fool.

A whip for the horse, a bridle for the donkey, And a rod for the back of fools.

For lack of wood the fire goes out; And where there is no whisperer, contention ceases.

When he speaks fair, don't believe him; For there are seven disgusting things in his heart:

Don't boast yourself of tomorrow; For you don't know what a day may bring forth.

A prudent man sees the evil, [and] hides himself; [But] the simple pass on, [and] suffer for it.

Take his garment that is surety for a stranger; And hold him in pledge [that is surety] for a foreign woman.
