For she has cast down many wounded; yea, many mighty men have been slain by her.

For wisdom is on the top of high places, she stands between the ways and by the paths.

Hear, for I will speak truth; and the opening of my mouth shall bring forth uprightness.

For my mouth shall speak truth, and lying lips are an abomination before me.

Receive discipline and not silver; and choose for yourself knowledge rather than fine gold.

For wisdom is much better than fine gold; yea, she is better than precious stones, and nothing can be compared to her.

Now therefore hearken to me, O you children; for blessed is he who keeps my ways.

For my objectives are the issues of life, they proclaim the will of the LORD.

Whosoever is simple, let him come to me; as for him who lacks understanding, she said to him,

Correction for a bad man brings disgrace; the wicked man is rebuked by his own blemish.

For by her your days shall be multiplied, and the years of your life shall be increased.

My son, if you are wise, you are wise for yourself and for your friends; but if you are evil-minded, you alone shall bear your evils;

He who denies things falsely feeds on winds and pursues fowl of the air; for he has forsaken the way to his vineyard and the paths of his labor, to journey in the wilderness without water; in the places that are trodden he travels thirsty and gains nothing.

She says, He who is simple, let him come to me; and as for him who lacks understanding, she says to him,

But he does not know that the mighty men perish with her and that her guests are in the depths of Sheol. (9:19) Now rise up, and do not abide in that place; do not cast your eye at her; thus pass by the waters of strangers; cross over a strange river, and turn away from the waters of strangers; you shall not drink of the waters of strangers. For in doing so a multitude of days and years of life shall be added to you.

The lips of the righteous are full of mercy; but the fools die for want of wisdom.

Reverence for the LORD prolongs life; but the years of the wicked shall be shortened.

The counsel of the wicked is to lie in wait for the shedding of the blood; but the mouth of the upright shall deliver them.

A good man leaves an inheritance to his childrens children; and the wealth of the sinner is laid up for the righteous.

He who walks in uprightness has reverence for the LORD; but he who is perverse in his ways despises him.
