The proud and haughty man, scoffer is his name; He works in the arrogance of pride.

The desire of the sluggard kills him; For his hands refuse to labor.

A wicked man hardens his face; But as for the upright, he establishes his ways.

Thorns [and] snares are in the way of the perverse: He that keeps his soul shall be far from them.

He that sows iniquity shall reap calamity; And the rod of his wrath shall fail.

He that has a bountiful eye shall be blessed; For he gives of his bread to the poor.

He that loves pureness of heart, [For] the grace of his lips the king will be his friend.

He that oppresses the poor to increase his [gain], [And] he that gives to the rich, [shall come] only to want.

Do you see a man diligent in his business? he shall stand before kings; He shall not stand before mean men.

Don't be desirous of his dainties; Seeing they are deceitful food.

Don't eat the bread of him that has an evil eye, Neither desire his dainties:

For as he thinks inside himself, so he is: Eat and drink, he says to you; But his heart is not with you.

You shall beat him with the rod, And shall deliver his soul from Sheol.

Wisdom is too high for a fool: He does not open his mouth in the gate.

If you say, Look, we did not know this; Does not he that weighs the hearts consider it? And he that keeps your soul, does he not know it? And shall he not render to man according to his work?

Don't lay in wait, O wicked man, against the habitation of the righteous; Don't destroy his resting-place:

Or else Yahweh will see it, and it will be evil in his eyes, And he will turn away his wrath from him.

Don't say, I will do so to him as he has done to me; I will render to the man according to his work.

Take away the wicked [from] before the king, And his throne shall be established in righteousness.

As the cold of snow in the time of harvest, [So is] a faithful messenger to those that send him; For he refreshes the soul of his masters.
