A [noble] man that flatters his neighbor Spreads a net for his steps.

The bloodthirsty hate him that is perfect; And as for the upright, they seek his life.

A fool utters all his anger; But a wise man keeps it back and stills it.

If a ruler harkens to falsehood, All his ministers are wicked.

The king that faithfully judges the poor, His throne shall be established forever.

The rod and reproof give wisdom; But a child left to himself causes shame to his mother.

Do you see a man that is in a hurry in his words? There is more hope of a fool than of him.

He that delicately brings up his slave from a child Shall have him become a son at the last.

Whoever is partner with a thief hates his own soul; He hears the adjuration and utters nothing.

The fear of man brings a snare; But whoever puts his trust in Yahweh shall be safe.

Who has ascended up into heaven, and descended? Who has gathered the wind in his fists? Who has bound the waters in his garment? Who has established all the ends of the earth? What is his name, and what is his son's name, if you know?

Don't add to his words, Or else he will reprove you, and you will be found a liar.

Don't slander a slave to his master, Or else he will curse you, and you will be held guilty.

The eye that mocks at his father, And despises to obey his mother, The ravens of the valley shall pick it out, And the young eagles shall eat it.

The words of king Lemuel; the oracle which his mother taught him.

Let him drink, and forget his poverty, And remember his misery no more.

What profit has man of all his labor wherein he labors under the sun?

The wise man's eyes are in his head, and the fool walks in darkness: and yet I perceived that one event happens to them all.

For there is man whose labor is with wisdom, and with knowledge, and with skillfulness; yet to man that has not labored therein he shall leave it for his portion. This also is vanity and a great evil.

For what has man of all his labor, and of the striving of his heart, wherein he labors under the sun?
