and now the LORD has fulfilled it; He has done just as He said. Because you people have sinned against the LORD and have not obeyed His voice, this thing has happened to you.

Then say to them, 'This is what the LORD of Hosts, the God of Israel, says: I will send for My servant Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, and I will set his throne over these stones that I have embedded, and he will spread his royal pavilion over them.

I will kindle a fire in the temples of the gods of Egypt, and he will burn those temples and take their gods as captives. So he will wrap himself with the land of Egypt as a shepherd wraps himself in his garment, and he will depart from there unscathed.

Because you burned incense and sinned against the LORD, and did not obey the voice of the LORD or walk in His instruction, His statutes, and His testimonies, this disaster has befallen you, as you see today."

I am watching over them for harm and not for good, and every man of Judah who is in the land of Egypt will meet his end by sword or famine, until they are finished off.

This is what the LORD says: Behold, I am going to hand Pharaoh Hophra king of Egypt over to his enemies, to those who seek his life, just as I handed Zedekiah king of Judah over to Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, the enemy who was seeking his life.'"

That day belongs to the Lord, the GOD of Hosts, a day of vengeance to avenge Himself against His foes. The sword will devour until it is satisfied, until it is quenched with their blood. For it will be a sacrifice to the Lord, the GOD of Hosts, in the land of the north by the River Euphrates.

I will hand them over to those who seek their lives-to Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon and his officers. But after this, Egypt will be inhabited again as in ancient times, declares the LORD.

Because you trust in your works and treasures, you too will be captured, and Chemosh will go into exile with his priests and officials.

Cursed be the one who is negligent in doing the work of the LORD, and cursed is he who withholds his sword from bloodshed.

Moab has been at ease from youth, settled like wine on its dregs; he has not been poured from vessel to vessel or gone into exile. So his taste has remained the same, and his aroma is unchanged.

Therefore behold, the days are coming, declares the LORD, when I will send to him wanderers, who will pour him out. They will empty his vessels and shatter his jars.

Moab's calamity is at hand, and his affliction is rushing swiftly.

Mourn for him, all you who surround him, everyone who knows his name; tell how the mighty scepter is shattered-the glorious staff!

The horn of Moab has been cut off; and his arm is broken, declares the LORD.

Make him drunk, because he has magnified himself against the LORD; so Moab will wallow in his own vomit, and he will also become a laughingstock.

We have heard of Moab's pride, his exceeding pride and conceit, his proud arrogance and haughtiness of heart.

I know his fury, declares the LORD, but it is futile. His boasting is as empty as his deeds.

How shattered it is! How they wail! How Moab has turned his back in shame! Moab will become an object of ridicule and horror to all those around him."
