But the children struggled together within her; and she said, "If it is so, why then am I this way?" So she went to inquire of Yahweh.

Then Esau said to Jacob, "Please give me a swallow from the red stuff—this red stuff, for I am famished." Therefore his name was called Edom.

And Esau said, "Behold, I am about to die; so of what use then is the birthright to me?"

And Yahweh appeared to him that night and said,"I am the God of your father Abraham;Do not fear, for I am with you.I will bless you and multiply your seed,For the sake of My servant Abraham."

Now it happened that when Isaac was old and his eyes were too dim to see, that he called his older son Esau and said to him, "My son." And he said to him, "Here I am."

And Isaac said, "Behold now, I am old, and I do not know the day of my death.

Then Jacob answered his mother Rebekah, "Behold, Esau my brother is a hairy man, and I am a smooth man.

Then he came to his father and said, "My father." And he said, "Here I am. Who are you, my son?"

And Jacob said to his father, "I am Esau your firstborn; I have done as you told me. Rise up, please, sit and eat of my game, that your soul may bless me."

And he said, "Are you really my son Esau?" And he said, "I am."

And Isaac his father said to him, "Who are you?" And he said, "I am your son, your firstborn, Esau."

Then Rebekah said to Isaac, "I am tired of living because of the daughters of Heth; if Jacob takes a wife from the daughters of Heth, like these, from the daughters of the land, what good will my life be to me?"

And behold, Yahweh stood above it and said, "I am Yahweh, the God of your father Abraham and the God of Isaac; the land on which you lie, I will give it to you and to your seed.

Behold, I am with you and will keep you wherever you go. And I will bring you back to this land; for I will not forsake you until I have done what I have promised you."

Then Jacob made a vow, saying, "If God will be with me and will keep me on this journey on which I am going, and will give me food to eat and garments to wear,

Then she conceived again and bore a son and said, "Because Yahweh has heard that I am unloved, He has therefore given me this son also." So she named him Simeon.

Then Jacob's anger burned against Rachel, and he said, "Am I in the place of God, who has withheld from you the fruit of the womb?"

Then Leah said, "Happy am I! For women will call me happy." So she named him Asher.

Then the angel of God said to me in the dream, ‘Jacob,' and I said, ‘Here I am.'

I am the God of Bethel, where you anointed a pillar, where you made a vow to Me; now arise, leave this land, and return to the land of your kin.'"
