"I came today to the spring, and said, ‘O Lord , the God of my master Abraham, if now you will only make successful the way I am going!

When Isaac was old and his eyes were dim so that he could not see, he called his elder son Esau and said to him, "My son"; and he answered, "Here I am."

He said, "See, I am old; I do not know the day of my death.

But Jacob said to his mother Rebekah, "Look, my brother Esau is a hairy man, and I am a man of smooth skin.

So he went in to his father, and said, "My father"; and he said, "Here I am; who are you, my son?"

Jacob said to his father, "I am Esau your firstborn. I have done as you told me; now sit up and eat of my game, so that you may bless me."

He said, "Are you really my son Esau?" He answered, "I am."

His father Isaac said to him, "Who are you?" He answered, "I am your firstborn son, Esau."

Then Rebekah said to Isaac, "I am weary of my life because of the Hittite women. If Jacob marries one of the Hittite women such as these, one of the women of the land, what good will my life be to me?"

And the Lord stood beside him and said, "I am the Lord , the God of Abraham your father and the God of Isaac; the land on which you lie I will give to you and to your offspring;

Know that I am with you and will keep you wherever you go, and will bring you back to this land; for I will not leave you until I have done what I have promised you."

She conceived again and bore a son, and said, "Because the Lord has heard that I am hated, he has given me this son also"; and she named him Simeon.

Jacob became very angry with Rachel and said, "Am I in the place of God, who has withheld from you the fruit of the womb?"

And Leah said, "Happy am I! For the women will call me happy"; so she named him Asher.

Then the angel of God said to me in the dream, ‘Jacob,' and I said, ‘Here I am!'

I am the God of Bethel, where you anointed a pillar and made a vow to me. Now leave this land at once and return to the land of your birth.'"
