But Jesus, knowing their inner thoughts, took a little child and had him stand beside him.

But he turned and rebuked them,

Jesus told him, "Foxes have holes and birdsbirds in the sky">[fn] have nests, but the Son of Man has no place to rest."no place to lay his head">[fn]

He told another man, "Follow me." But he said, "Lord,Lord">[fn] first let me go and bury my father."Matthew 8:21;">[xr]

But he told him, "Let the dead bury their own dead. But you go and proclaim the kingdom of God."

Still another man said, "I will follow you, Lord, but first let me say goodbye to those at home."1 Kings 19:20;">[xr]

He was telling them, "The harvest is vast, but the workers are few. So ask the Lord of the harvest to send workers out into his harvest.Matthew 9:37-38; John 4:35; 2 Thessalonians 3:1;">[xr]

If a peaceful person lives there, your greeting of peace will remain with him. But if that's not the case, your greetingit">[fn] will come back to you.

But whenever you go into a town and peoplethey">[fn] don't welcome you, go out into its streets and say,

'We are wiping off your town's dust that clings to our feet in protest against you! But realize this: the kingdom of God is near!'Matthew 10:14; Luke 9:5; Acts 13:51; 18:6;">[xr]

For I tell you, many prophets and kings wanted to see the things you see but didn't see them, and to hear the things you hear but didn't hear them."1 Peter 1:10;">[xr]

But the man wanted to justify himself, so he asked Jesus, "And who is my neighbor?"Luke 16:15;">[xr]

But as he was traveling along, a Samaritan came across the man.him">[fn] When the Samaritanhe">[fn] saw him, he was moved with compassion.John 4:9;">[xr]

But Martha was worrying about all the things she had to do, so she came to him and asked, "Lord, you do care that my sister has left me to do the work all by myself, don't you? Then tell her to help me."

But there's onlyout of a few things, there's only">[fn] one thing you need. Mary has chosen what is better,the better part">[fn] and it is not to be taken away from her."Psalm 27:4;">[xr]

and forgive us our sins, as we forgive everyone who sins against us.is indebted to us">[fn] And never bring us into temptation.'"into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one">[fn]

But some of them said, "He drives out demons by Beelzebul, the ruler of the demons."Matthew 9:34; 12:24;">[xr]

But if I drive out demons by the finger[fn] of God, then the kingdom of God has come to you.Exodus 8:19;">[xr]

But when a stronger man than he attacks him and defeats him, he'll take away his armor in which he trusted and divide his plunder.Isaiah 53:12; Colossians 2:15;">[xr]
