Behold, he shall come up like clouds, and his chariots like a tempest. His horses are swifter than eagles. Woe to us, for we are plundered!

I looked, and, behold! The fruitful place was a wilderness, and all its cities were broken down before the face of Jehovah, before His glowing anger.

They were like lusty, well fed stallions in the morning, everyone neighing after the wife of his neighbor.

The shepherds with their flocks shall come to her; they shall pitch tents on her all around. They shall each one feed in his hand.

So Jehovah says this, Behold! I am giving stumbling-blocks to this people, and the fathers and the sons together shall stumble on them; a neighbor and his friend shall perish.

For if you thoroughly amend your ways and your doings; if you truly practice justice between a man and his neighbor;

Cut off your crown and throw it away, and lift up a dirge on the heights. For Jehovah has rejected and forsaken the generation of His wrath.

The snorting of his horses was heard from Dan; all the land trembles at the sound of the neighing of his stallions. For they come and devour the land and its fullness, the city and those who live in it.

Let everyone be on guard against his neighbor, and do not trust any brother. For every brother will supplant, and every neighbor will walk as a slanderer.

And everyone will deceive his neighbor, and they will not speak the truth. They have taught their tongue to speak lies. They weary themselves to commit iniquity.

Their tongue is a murdering arrow; it speaks deceit. One speaks peace with his neighbor with his mouth, but in his heart he sets his ambush.

Yet hear the Word of Jehovah, women. And let your ear receive the Word of His mouth, and teach your daughters a lament, and each one her neighbor a dirge.

So says Jehovah, Do not let the wise glory in his wisdom, and do not let the mighty glory in his might. Do not let the rich glory in his riches.

But Jehovah is the true God, He is the living God and the everlasting King. At His wrath the earth shall tremble, and the nations shall not be able to stand His indignation.

It is He who made the earth by His power, who established the world by His wisdom, and who stretched out the heavens by His understanding.

When He utters His voice, there is a noise of waters in the heavens. He causes the vapors to go up from the ends of the earth; He makes lightnings for the rain and brings forth the wind out of His storehouses.

Every man is stupid from lack of knowledge; every refiner is put to shame by the carved image. For his molten image is a lie and no breath is in them.

The Portion of Jacob is not like these. For He is the Former of all things; and Israel is the tribe of His inheritance; Jehovah of Hosts is His name.

O Jehovah, I know that his way does not belong to man; it is not in man who walks to direct his steps.

Pour out Your fury on the nations who do not know You, and on the families who do not call on Your name. For they have eaten up Jacob. Yea, they have devoured him and have destroyed him, and they have made his dwelling place desolate.
