Zion, because of your sins you are surrounded by many nations who say, "We can hardly wait to see you disgraced."

The Lord God has told us what is right and what he demands: "See that justice is done, let mercy be your first concern, and humbly obey your God."

I have sinned against the Lord . And so I must endure his anger, until he comes to my defense. But I know that I will see him making things right for me and leading me to the light.

You, my enemies, said, "The Lord God is helpless." Now each of you will be disgraced and put to shame. I will see you trampled like mud in the street.

Nations will see this and be ashamed because of their helpless armies. They will be in shock, unable to speak or hear,

You're doomed! You get your friends drunk, just to see them naked.

Now you will be disgraced instead of praised. The Lord will make you drunk, and when others see you naked, you will lose their respect.

I will lead you home, and with your own eyes you will see me bless you with all you once owned. Then you will be famous everywhere on this earth. I, the Lord , have spoken!

Then he asked, "What do you see?" "A solid gold lampstand with an oil container above it," I answered. "On the stand are seven lamps, each with seven flames.

Those who have made fun of this day of small beginnings will celebrate when they see Zerubbabel holding this important stone. Those seven lamps represent my eyes—the eyes of the Lord —and they see everything on this earth.

Now the angel who was there to explain the visions came over and said, "Look up and tell me what you see coming."

So once again, I, the Lord All-Powerful, tell you, "See that justice is done and be kind and merciful to one another!

Israel will be like a tribe of warriors celebrating with wine. When their children see this, they will also be happy because of me, the Lord .

I, the Lord , will make the descendants of David and the people of Jerusalem feel deep sorrow and pray when they see the one they pierced with a spear. They will mourn and weep for him, as parents weep over the death of their only child or their first-born.

Israel, when you see this, you will shout, "The Lord 's great reputation reaches beyond our borders."

I am the Lord God All-Powerful, and you had better try to please me. You have sinned. Now see if I will have mercy on any of you.

See how happy those arrogant people are. Everyone who does wrong is successful, and when they put God to the test, they always get away with it."

Then everyone will once again see the difference between those who obey me by doing right and those who reject me by doing wrong.
