And when John had heard in prison about the works of Christ, he sent two of [fn] his disciples

Genesis 19:12-14; Luke 10:13-15">[xr] Then He began to rebuke the cities in which most of His mighty works had been done, because they did not repent:

Mark 2:23-28; Luke 6:1-5">[xr] At that time Jesus went through the grainfields on the Sabbath. And His disciples were hungry, and began to pluck heads of grain and to eat.

He will not quarrel nor cry out, Nor will anyone hear His voice in the streets.

And in His name Gentiles will trust." Isaiah 42:1-4 ">[fn]

If Satan casts out Satan, he is divided against himself. How then will his kingdom stand?

Or how can one enter a strong man's house and plunder his goods, unless he first binds the strong man? And then he will plunder his house.

A good man out of the good treasure of his heart [fn] brings forth good things, and an evil man out of the evil treasure brings forth evil things.

Mark 3:31-35; Luke 8:19-21">[xr] While He was still talking to the multitudes, behold, His mother and brothers stood outside, seeking to speak with Him.

And He stretched out His hand toward His disciples and said, "Here are My mother and My brothers!

When anyone hears the word of the kingdom, and does not understand it, then the wicked one comes and snatches away what was sown in his heart. This is he who received seed by the wayside.

Another parable He put forth to them, saying: "The kingdom of heaven is like a man who sowed good seed in his field;

but while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat and went his way.

Mark 4:30-32; Luke 13:18,19">[xr] Another parable He put forth to them, saying: "The kingdom of heaven is like a mustard seed, which a man took and sowed in his field,

Then Jesus sent the multitude away and went into the house. And His disciples came to Him, saying, "Explain to us the parable of the tares of the field."

The Son of Man will send out His angels, and they will gather out of His kingdom all things that offend, and those who practice lawlessness,

Then He said to them, "Therefore every scribe instructed concerning [fn] the kingdom of heaven is like a householder who brings out of his treasure things new and old."

When He had come to His own country, He taught them in their synagogue, so that they were astonished and said, "Where did this Man get this wisdom and these mighty works?

Is this not the carpenter's son? Is not His mother called Mary? And His brothers James, Joses, [fn] Simon, and Judas?

And His sisters, are they not all with us? Where then did this Man get all these things?"
