All of them continued to be stunned and puzzled, and they kept asking one another, "What can this mean?"

All the believers were together, and they shared everything with one another.had all things in common">[fn]Acts 4:32,34;">[xr]

They made it their practice to sell their possessions and goods and to distribute the proceedsto distribute them">[fn] to anyone who was in need.Isaiah 58:7;">[xr]

They had a single purpose and went to the temple every day. They ate at each other's homes and shared their food with glad and humble hearts.Luke 24:53; Acts 1:14; 5:42; 20:7;">[xr]

They kept praising God and enjoying the good will of all the people. And every day the Lord was adding to them people who were being saved.Luke 2:52; Acts 4:33; 5:14; 11:24; Romans 14:18;">[xr]

they knew that he was the man who used to sit and beg at the Beautiful Gate of the temple, and they were filled with wonder and amazement at what had happened to him.John 9:8;">[xr]

While he was holding on to Peter and John, all the people came running together to them in what was called Solomon's Colonnade. They were dumbfounded.John 10:23; Acts 5:12;">[xr]

While they were speaking to the people, the priests, the commander of the temple guards, and the Sadducees came to them.

They were greatly disturbed that Peter and Johnthey">[fn] were teaching the people and declaring that in the case of Jesus there had been a resurrection from the dead.Matthew 22:23; Acts 23:8;">[xr]

So they arrested them and placed them in custody until the next day, since it was already evening.

They made them stand in front of them and began asking, "By what power or by what name did you do this?"Exodus 2:14; Matthew 21:23; Acts 7:27;">[xr]

Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John and found out that they were uneducated and ordinary men, they were amazed and realized that they had been with Jesus.Matthew 11:25; 1 Corinthians 1:27;">[xr]

And seeing the man who was healed standing with them, they could not say anything against them.Acts 3:11;">[xr]

So they ordered them to leave the CouncilSanhedrin">[fn] and began to discuss the matter among themselves.

They said, "What should we do with these men? For it's obvious to everybody living in Jerusalem that an unmistakable sign has been done by them, and we can't deny it.John 11:47; Acts 3:9-10;">[xr]

So they called them in and ordered them not to speak or teach at all in the name of Jesus.Acts 5:40;">[xr]

So they threatened them even more and then let them go. They couldn't find any way to punish them, because all the people continued to praise God for what had happened.Matthew 21:26; Luke 20:6,19; 22:2; Acts 3:7-8; 5:26;">[xr]
