And He went with them and came to Nazareth and was being subject to them. And His mother carefully kept all these words in her heart.

And in the fifteenth year of the government of Tiberius Caesar, Pontius Pilate governing Judea, and Herod ruling as tetrarch of Galilee, and his brother Philip ruling as tetrarch of Itureaand the Trachonitis country, andLysanias ruling as tetrarch of Abilene,

as it has been written in the scroll of the Words of Isaiah the prophet, saying: "The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare the way of the Lord, make His paths straight.

John answered all, saying, I indeed baptize you with water; but He stronger than I comes, of whom I am not fit to loosen the thong of His sandals. He will baptize you in the Holy Spirit and fire,

whose sifting fan is in His hand; and He will fully purge His threshing-floor, and will gather the wheat into His storehouse, but the chaff He will burn up with fire that cannot be put out.

But Herod the tetrarch, being reproved by him concerning Herodias, the wife of his brother, Philip, and concerning all the evil things Herod did,

for it has been written: "He will command His angels about You, even to protect You,"

And He came to Nazareth where He was brought up. And as was His custom, He went in on the day of the sabbaths, into the synagogue, and He stood up to read.

And all bore witness to Him, and marveled at the gracious words coming out of His mouth. And they said, Is this not the son of Joseph?

But He said, Truly I say to you that no prophet is acceptable in his fatherland.

And they were astonished at His doctrine, because His Word was with authority.

And it happened, in His being in one of the cities, even behold, a man full of leprosy! And seeing Jesus, falling on his face, he begged Him, saying, Lord, if You be willing, You are able to cleanse me.

And rising up at once before them, taking up that on which he was lying, he went to his house glorifying God.

And Levi made a great feast for Him in his house. And there was a crowd of many tax collectors reclining, and of others who were with them.

And their scribes and the Pharisees murmured at His disciples, saying, Why do you eat and drink with tax collectors and sinners?

And it happened on the second chief sabbath, He passed along through the sown fields. And His disciples plucked the heads and were eating, rubbing with the hands.

And it also happened on another sabbath, He going into the synagogue and teaching. And a man was there, and his right hand was withered.

And having looked around at them all, He said to the man, Stretch out your hand! And he did so. And his hand was restored sound as the other.

And when it became day, He called His disciples, also choosing out twelve from them, whom He also named apostles:

Simon, whom He also named Peter; and his brother Andrew; James and John; Philip and Bartholomew;
