Three days after his arrival in the province, Festus went up from Caesarea to Jerusalem,

Then Paul made his defense: "I have committed no offense against the law of the Jews or against the temple or against Caesar."

Then Festus conferred with his council and replied, "You have appealed to Caesar. To Caesar you will go!"

I told them it was not the Roman custom to hand a man over before he has an opportunity to face his accusers and defend himself against their charges.

But when his accusers rose to speak, they did not charge him with any of the crimes I had expected.

Agrippa said to Paul, "You have permission to speak for yourself." Then Paul stretched out his hand and began his defense:

For the king knows about these matters, and I can speak freely to him. I am confident that none of this has escaped his notice, because it was not done in a corner.

The next day we landed at Sidon, and Julius treated Paul with consideration, allowing him to visit his friends and receive their care.

Paul gathered a bundle of sticks, and as he laid them on the fire, a viper, driven out by the heat, fastened itself to his hand.

When the islanders saw the creature hanging from his hand, they said to one another, "Surely this man is a murderer. Although he was saved from the sea, Justice has not allowed him to live."

The father of Publius was sick in bed, suffering from fever and dysentery. Paul went in to see him, and after praying and placing his hands on him, he healed the man.

Paul stayed there two full years in his own rented house, welcoming all who came to visit him.

which He promised beforehand through His prophets in the Holy Scriptures,

regarding His Son, who was a descendant of David according to the flesh,

and who through the Spirit of holiness was declared with power to be the Son of God by His resurrection from the dead: Jesus Christ our Lord.

Through Him and on behalf of His name, we received grace and apostleship to call all those among the Gentiles to the obedience that comes from faith.

God, whom I serve with my spirit in preaching the gospel of His Son, is my witness how constantly I remember you

For since the creation of the world God's invisible qualities, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood from His workmanship, so that men are without excuse.

Or do you disregard the riches of His kindness, tolerance, and patience, not realizing that God's kindness leads you to repentance?

God "will repay each one according to his deeds."
