and Paul, as his custom was, went in to them, and for three Sabbath days reasoned with them from the Scriptures,

Now while Paul waited for them at Athens, his spirit was provoked inside him as he looked at the city full of idols.

for in him we live, and move, and have our being; as certain even of your own poets have said, For we are also his offspring.

And he found a certain Jew named Aquila, a man of Pontus by race, lately come from Italy, with his wife Priscilla, because Claudius had commanded all the Jews to depart from Rome: and he came to them;

And when they opposed themselves and blasphemed, he shook out his raiment and said to them, Your blood [be] on your own heads; I am clean: from now on I will go to the Gentiles.

And Crispus, the ruler of the synagogue, believed in the Lord with all his house; and many of the Corinthians hearing believed, and were baptized.

But when Paul was about to open his mouth, Gallio said to the Jews, If indeed it were a matter of wrong or of wicked villany, O you Jews, there would be a reason that I should bear with you:

And Paul, having tarried after this yet many days, took his leave of the brothers, and sailed from there for Syria, and with him Priscilla and Aquila: having shorn his head in Cenchreae; for he had a vow.

but taking his leave of them, and saying, I will return again to you if God wills, he set sail from Ephesus.

And when Paul had laid his hands on them, the Holy Spirit came on them; and they spoke with tongues, and prophesied.

insomuch that to the sick were carried away from his body handkerchiefs or aprons, and the evil spirits went out.

And certain also of the Asiarchs, being his friends, sent to him and implored him not to adventure himself into the theatre.

And on the first day of the week, when we were gathered together to break bread, Paul discoursed with them, intending to depart on the next day; and prolonged his speech until midnight.

And there sat in the window a certain young man named Eutychus, borne down with deep sleep; and as Paul discoursed yet longer, being borne down by his sleep he fell down from the third story, and was taken up dead.

And Paul went down, and fell on him, and embracing him said, Don't be distressed; for his life is in him.

Take heed to yourselves, and to all the flock, in which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to feed the church of the Lord which he purchased with his own blood.

And now I commend you to God, and to the word of his grace, which is able to build [you] up, and to give [you] the inheritance among all those that are sanctified.

sorrowing most of all for the word which he had spoken, that they should see his face no more. And they brought him on his way to the ship.

And coming to us, and taking Paul's girdle, he bound his own feet and hands, and said, Thus says the Holy Spirit, So shall the Jews at Jerusalem bind the man that owns this girdle, and shall deliver him into the hands of the Gentiles.

And when he had saluted them, he rehearsed one by one the things which God had done among the Gentiles through his service.
