And there shall be signs in sun and moon and stars; and on the earth distress of nations, in perplexity for the roaring of the sea and the billows;

men fainting for fear, and for expectation of the things which are coming on the world: for the powers of the heavens shall be shaken.

for [so] it shall come on all those that dwell on the face of all the earth.

And the chief priests and the scribes sought how they might put him to death; for they feared the people.

And he sent Peter and John, saying, Go and make ready for us the passover, that we may eat.

for I say to you, I shall not eat it, until it is fulfilled in the kingdom of God.

for I say to you, I shall not drink from now on of the fruit of the vine, until the kingdom of God shall come.

And he took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it, and gave to them, saying, This is my body which is given for you: this do in remembrance of me.

And the cup in like manner after supper, saying, This cup is the new covenant in my blood, [even] that which is poured out for you.

For the Son of man indeed goes, as it has been determined: but woe to that man through whom he is betrayed!

For which is greater, he that sits at meat, or he that serves? Isn't it he that sits at meat? but I am in the midst of you as he that serves.

but I made supplication for you, that your faith does not fail; and you, when once you have turned again, establish your brothers.

For I say to you, that this which is written must be fulfilled in me, And he was reckoned with transgressors: for that which concerns me has fulfillment.

And when he rose up from his prayer, he came to the disciples, and found them sleeping for sorrow,

And after the space of about one hour another confidently affirmed, saying, Of a truth this man also was with him; for he is a Galilean.

And they said, What further need do we have of witness? for we ourselves have heard from his own mouth.

Now when Herod saw Jesus, he was exceeding glad: for he was of a long time desirous to see him, because he had heard concerning him; and he hoped to see some miracle done by him.

And Herod and Pilate became friends with each other that very day: for before they were at enmity between themselves.

no, nor yet Herod: for he sent him back to us; and look, nothing worthy of death has been done by him.

one who for a certain insurrection made in the city, and for murder, was cast into prison.
