But from the tree which is in the center of the garden, God has said, ‘Do not eat from it or touch it, or you will die.'"

For God knows that when you eat from it, your eyes will be opened and you will be like God, knowing good and bad."

Then they heard the sound of the Lord God walking in the garden in the evening. The man and his wife hid themselves from the Lord God among the trees of the garden.

But the Lord God called to the man. He said to him, "Where are you?"

The Lord God said, "Who told you that you were without clothes? Have you eaten from the tree of which I told you not to eat?"

Then the Lord God said to the woman, "What is this you have done?" And the woman said, "The snake fooled me, and I ate."

Then the Lord God said to the snake, "Because you have done this, you will be hated and will suffer more than all cattle, and more than every animal of the field. You will go on your stomach and you will eat dust all the days of your life.

And the Lord God made clothes of skins for Adam and his wife, and dressed them.

Then the Lord God said, "See, the man has become like one of Us, knowing good and bad. Now then, he might put out his hand to take from the tree of life also, and eat and live forever."

So the Lord God sent him out from the garden of Eden, to work the ground from which he was taken.

And Adam lay with his wife again, and she gave birth to a son and gave him the name Seth. For she said, "God has let me have another son in the place of Abel, for Cain killed him."

This is the book of the children of Adam and of their children's children. When God made man, He made him in the likeness of God.

Enoch walked with God 300 years after the birth of Methuselah. He had other sons and daughters.

Enoch walked with God, and he was seen no more, for God took him.

the sons of God saw that the daughters of men were beautiful. And they took wives for themselves, whomever they chose.

Very large men were on the earth in those days, and later also, when the sons of God lived with the daughters of men, who gave birth to their children. These were the powerful men of long ago, men of much strength.

This is the story of Noah and his family. Noah was right with God. He was without blame in his time. Noah walked with God.

Now the earth was sinful in the eyes of God. The earth was filled with people hurting each other.

God looked at the earth and saw how sinful it was. For all who lived on the earth had become sinful in their ways.

Then God said to Noah, "I have decided to make an end to all the people on the earth. They are the cause of very much trouble. See, I will destroy them as I destroy the earth.
